Think I need a tool roll for one of my cars. I have the compressor but no tool kit. Has anyone seen one advertised? Or does anyone have one they're willing to sell? Are they the same for all years? NA vs TT?
The factory kit from Carnewal is almost complete, but note the current version fails to include the bit to manually open the window. I would also caution you that none of the kits includes a 22mm wrench, or the sockets required to replace the belts - items I highly recommend adding along with spare belts. Learned this the hard way this weekend s we had the belts and tool kit, but 22mm wrench!
When you replace those belts get the correct Porsche belts for the fan and alternator. Not sure why but the 993 is a bit fussy about having the proper belts. Lots of guys have had belt failures or belt and pulley problems with non Porsche belts.

There seem to be variations in the width of the belts (not lengths) between suppliers which can (with a non-porsche belt) cause also trigger erroneous misfire codes. It has happened several times where misfires/CEL codes have been fixed by changing the belts to Porsche sourced, specially the alternator belt.
94 to 96 has more tools and a larger roll. 97 to 98 has a smaller tool roll with less tools. (The same tool bag as 996/986) NA and TT tools were the same.
If you are looking for the correct oem tool set be sure you get the correct one for your model year. I bought an incomplete set of 97 tools from Falcondrivr for $50 a few months ago to complete my 97 tool set.

.
For the last two belt replacements I have used aftermarket belts.
I did the pulley update as outlined in a technical bulletin several years ago..
I was getting misfire codes recently shortly after replacing the belts with aftermarket belts. I cleaned the idle valve and replaced the caps and rotors, changed the oil and now no misfire code.
Just one data point for your consideration.
Andy:-)
Thanks for the feedback all! For the record, we had our twin 1997 C2S's on the road Saturday and it was my buddy's car that shredded the fan belt. We had to refer to my car for the correct belt code, as his belts from Contitech didn't have the factory codes. Definitely a good idea to clearly mark the spare fan belt and alternator belts as they're quite similar in size.
In fairness to Contitech it doesn't appear that the after-market belt was to blame. According to the guys at EPE here in Natick (great shop!) it was a defective fan belt sensor that caused the problem. I'm still trying to ascertain if it was an outdated pulley, or a defect in a newer pulley.
In the meantime, I couldn't resist posting a few more pics. It was a spirited AM drive through some back-country roads to the Wachusett Reservoir. Farm Road in Dover/Sherborn was a particular delight!
Love that one piece mustache air dam, Where did you get it?
Love your avatar! Regret I have no documentation on the front splitter. It looks great with the GT2 tail on - perhaps a bit nose heavy without. MagDaddy mentioned that FVD and Design911 UK both have very similar ones available. Good luck with sourcing!
