I had the same problem, to wrench at the Porsche dealer said there are two ways to avoid the seat getting stuck.
1) Don't take it all the way back (which, at 6'8" is a problem for me) or
2) you can adjust the seat mechanism to where the left and right side of each seat are not aligned perfectly, in other words, when the seat is in the back position, one side of the seat is hitting the stop, the other side is a fraction of an inch from the stop. If I remember correctly, he did this by adjusting the cable tension on each side.
Good luck! <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />

My coupre's seat was stuck in the furthest back position a while ago. Someone on the board suggested to activate the switch and try to "scootch" forward while witting in the seat. After a couple of tries, it moved.

As is stated above, for some reason keeping the seat just a little ahead of all the way back keeeps it from getting stuck.

Good luck with it.

I tried the "schooch" method to free up my drivers side seat with no success. Since I had an old adjustment cable laying around, I used it to free up the mechanism. I put the good end of the cable into the plastic tube and made sure it was seated in the mechanism. Then I turned the cable by hand with a pair of vise grips to free the seat. Re-installed the new cable, cover, and all was well!
