Talking 993 and it's great grand pa now added to the collection

I always wanted a 356. I think it goes well with the 993 and now I have both. Really like the Irish green/light gray combo.

First and last air cooled model numbers 356 and 993!

I hardly ever see that green color. It's totally old school cool. Congrats.

Oh, wow. My dream is to someday have a 1956 356A. The 993 has always been my favorite 911, but the 356 is my favorite Porsche. Enjoy it and please post more pictures!

Harold,
Welcome to the 356 Club. Looks like a 356 C. I also have both a 993 and a 1965 356 C also.
They are a great combination. I highly recommend joining the 356 Registry. It is a great resource, and a good group of guys.

Congrats!
Joe

That's fantastic Harold! You need to bring it to a C&C so I can check it out...

Congrats! Always been a fan of the 356. I've been window shopping and the C' is one of the models still available for reasonable prices. Good time to get in.

Cheers,
Tito

Awesome! Would love a non-overly-restored 356 one day as well.

Yes! It's a C. Should be the most refined and also has disc brakes. It actually drives and handles fairly well. It's what I wanted unless I could get a speedster which is outrageous now. I'll snap some more pics.
The original paint is fairly worn. 60s-70s Acrylic enamel or lacquer is easy to dull and easy to buff through. Interior and engine are in great shape. It was a California car and was in storage in Cali from 76 until 2013 by the original owner. I have the original black plates from Cali with it as well. I pulled the bumpers off when I got it to see the outlaw look. Maybe putting them back on once I redo them.

I agree! I was having a hard time controlling myself after the Porsche museum trip to NC with all the history and early cars on display. Finally I calmed myself down on the 356 hunt for a little while.
Mostly the urge remained and was getting stronger again. My concern over general aircooled mania turned into thoughts of "buy now or forever be out of range".
I remember passing on a nice 72 911 E for $7900 back around 99-2000.

To satisfy the additional toy urge, I was looking at 912s and they were getting out of site for a nice one. I really wanted a 356 much more than a 912 so I shifted gears and suddenly couldn't stop myself. One bank wire later, I am very happy with it.

For anyone on the fence,

I've got zero buyers remorse! I really love driving it! It is awesome!

Any comments on what the C is like to drive? I have driven a whole variety of 911's, 914's, 944's, 928's, but have never tried a 356?

The reason I ask is there is an itch for one that I may have to scratch one day ---

Stock suspension, shocks and tires on this 356C. Floats along like a cork on the ocean. In the rear, big bore kit with Webers. As it is a very light vehicle, in can be easily upset in case of any sharp maneuvers.

Mine feels light and nimble; much like a 912 swb. Many shock options and tire air pressure makes a difference. There are modified recommendations for modern radials.
It's also recommended to make sure all the bushings are like new including the front sway bar for tight turn in. If it's well set up and well maintained, it'll be fun to drive.
