I wonder if there is any value to replying to old threads. If so, I would be interested if anyone had found a great product recently that won't mar nuts or wheel and that will fit turbo twists. I like the idea of the HAzet, but seems it won't fit the fronts.

The Hazet socket is soft on the outside, not inside! It wont protect your nuts, it will protect your wheels

Thank you on that insight re the hazet. Do you happen to have a recommendation on a great socket that will protect both the wheels and the nuts?

I use an aluminum socket that is soft and non marring on both the 993 nuts and 997 bolts. Fits the TT and Carrera Classic wheels perfectly. I only use it with a breaker bar and torque wrench never a power driver. Bought it from Suncoast.

Schwaben extra long, and deep. And do protect your nuts!

Thanks Foxman. Do you use these Schwaben sockets? If you have first hand experience of them protecting the nuts themselves as well as the wheels then I'll give it a go. Their product description seems to indicate they are like the German hazet with only protection for the wheel

They are the same as the Hazet ones, Sealy do them as well. They are a steel socket with a plastic or nylon outer cover, no different to any socket on the inside where they touch your nuts!

This is the Porsche item Mike talks of, full aluminum so a little softer on your nuts!

I do use the Schwabens regularly, they work well at protecting the wheels. As 911pervy notes they are not really designed to protect lug nuts, but the rounded bits so help reduce wear and tear on the nuts. I use a torque wrench, but I always make sure to tighten them loosely and hand tighten the last crank.
