Default Lug Nut Socket Find

The soft sockets often mentioned here are tough to find these days. Not sure where they all are, but supplies seemed to have dried up or are expensive.

I found a set (MAC SSPXD26MCR) from eBay for ~$15 on Monday. There are a few other sets available from various sellers in case anyone is looking. Just a heads up.

Do you have 993 Turbo Twists? If so, does it fit the fronts? I recently treated myself to a Hazet 903SLG-19 soft socket and it is too wide to fit down to the bottom of my 993 Turbo Twist fronts. It does properly fit the rears, and both fronts and rears of my 996 Hollow Turbo Twists. The Hazet is an impact compatible socket, and maybe it is made beefier for that reason.

I have 996 twists. It fits both front and rear on those. These are definitely NOT impact compatible. In fact, "100 max ft lbs" is engraved in the 19mm socket.

The OD is 27mm for the 19mm soft socket. My 19mm non-impact Craftsman socket also has an OD of 27mm. Seems like this would fit no problem.

Thanks for measuring. The Hazet is 31.1mm OD. I'm sure the 27mm OD would fit not problem.

So these are to protect the paint on the stock AL nuts?

Conversely, is there something that will protect the wheel stud openings using an impact wrench? In other words, 'soft' outer socket.

Cheers

Exactly. These are to protect your nuts? (couldn't resist).

Lots of options for impact sockets with soft sleeves.

Matt, the Hazet I have mentioned both the face of the nut (or bolt), as well as the bore in the rim, and is impact rated. The outer sleeve is separately replaceable, too. Almost perfect, but does not fit well in the bore of 993 front twists.

Electrical tape or shrink tubing for the outside.
