Default Where is my DME relay

Being a newbie, I'm getting myself prepared for the inevitable breakdowns that could leave me stranded. So based on my gathering from reading all these posts

1. AAA membership with 200 miles tow. Done.
2. Battery for immobilizer remote keyfob. Done.
3. DME relays. Bought two from Autozone based on the recommendation from the following post
https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...t-32-95-a.html

I tried to test out the new relays to make sure they are working this morning and I'm stuck because:
1. I can't find where the DME relay is in my car according to the guide below

2. If the DME relay is the farthest, they looks different. The original one in the car has VW part number and according to the map, it's not the DME.

3. When I plug in the new relay, it does appear a little higher and I can hear a fan running.

Can anyone educate me?

Darn it, I lost a minute writing my nice little summary.

OP, I'm surprised you had difficulty finding this. Its a simple google search and worst comes to worst you can look on the inside of the fuse box cover.
Or maybe I'm not understanding your question.

The relay is will likely have a VW or Audi rings on it. Your new one may very likely have a different shape and manufacturers obviously differ their specific designs. I'm not sure what fan you are referring to.

I wonder how the Auto zone DME relay is. With a life time warranty whenever it fails one could swap out for a new one.

I was an idiot. The pictures above told me that there's another relay box in the front. I found it and swapped in the new relay from Autozone. Though the Autozone relay is a little taller than the original one, it does fit and the car starts ok. The original relay sounds like there's some moving part inside, is it how it is? Thanks for the help.

Relays are controlled switches, so the sound you hear is the switch opening and closing, that click sound is normal.
