I always get positive comments, never any negativity. And I also never get anyone that wants to race me. Probably because when I roll up beside someone at a stop light I usually never really look at them.

Not my experience at all. Though I did get flipped off by a gal in a miata Saturday. I may have been following her too closely (but not tailgating) down a two lane road whilst she was going exactly the speed limit. Cars were stacking up behind. When the road opened up, I passed and I saw the bird. It felt good though - she had an Obama-Biden sticker.

I agree with most comments but everyone in Jersey being nice is not one of them .

I am not a risk taker when driving, especially since I recognize I am in early stages of learning how to drive this type of car. Christ, I still stall it backing up sometimes, I blame my size 13 feet, and finding 1st gear sometimes is a challenge.

On one occasion a guy in a Cadillac CTS-V coupe pulls up to next to me at a light and asked what year it is. This is great as he identifies with its uniqueness, this kind of exchange is welcome.

I'll get thumbs up from most people. Hate the morons that ride your a$$ to get a closer look. Can't really hear their comments over my exhaust at idle :-)

I try not to get to close when I see something on the road I like but never thought of it from the other drivers perspective.

I've had no problems on the road. I don't drive really fast but have carved up a few canyons here and there. Run into lots of mustangs and corvettes but never any animosity. They all wave or say hi. 99% of 911 drivers who pass me slow down next to me and give a thumbs up and take off. All of them seem to be nice. Now California is a whole different ball game.

Never any issues from anyone other than fellow 911/930 owners in nearly 30 of 35 years of having one here in Northern California. And I'll admit that when I was a teen into my mid-20s I was pretty much the poster boy for the bad reputation 911s have out there......

Once I got a thumbs-up from a cop who was sitting on the side of the road. It freaked me out at first until I realized that he was just registering his approval of the car and not trying to signal me to pull over

I had a police officer pull me over a few weeks ago while my wife and I were heading to a local cars and coffee. Clocked me at 76 in a 60, 9:00am. Turned out the officer was more interested in the 993 than giving me a ticket. He couldn't believe it was a '95 model. Asked about if I ever tracked and how fast will it go. I jokingly replied ...at least 76. He laughed and said slow down and have a nice day.

Same thing happened to me. Police officer pulled me over for going 9 over the limit. Told me he won't give me a ticket. Then proceeded to ask about the 993. Asked how fast I've had it up to. No way I was going to "chat" with him and tell the truth about speeding. I just said "as fast as the law will allow". Then he said have a good day he let me go on my way.

When I first bought my car some 14 years ago, I would often get someone trying to race me, either on the highway or at street lights. Now it rarely happens. As other have said, I might get a thumbs up and a good grin from every now and then.

T - I think it's the color...

Can you imagine what happens when you upgrade that exhaust! Mothers will grab their children and cower even though you are only going 5mph...

Good to hear you discovered the higher RPMs. It's called varioram-land, kinda like Disneyland except you need a 993 to go there.

(I am glad to have a part in corrupting you).

I get more situations where people come up so close to my rear bumper, I am afraid they'll use me as a ramp. Very annoying.

After owning a few water cooled Porsches, I am thoroughly enjoying the 993 ownership. It has made me a believer. The build quality is very special and now that I am beginning to push it during fun drives, I can see the added benefit of owning a 4s. Great cars, easy to recognize. So far all responses have been positive.
