1996 993C4S with 96k, miles on it.
I ended up in a tire wall at the track. Body damage is substantial, undamaged panels are drivers door and rear quarter, deck lid and rear bumper. Pretty much everything else is bent, dented or completely wrinkled. The frame has a slight twist according to the body shop. It is on the border of total loss or repairable. I won't know until next week or so.
I have track insurance so that's not the issue.
If repaired and it has a complete glass out respray and repair from a repair shop that does a lot of Porsche work (and does it well) what impact does this have on value? Mechanically the car is excellent. Cosmetically before the accident it was ok.
Thanks guys.

Currently about $10K or so. Possibly more with the bent frame and all. And that's if it's repaired properly. In the future who the hell knows. I wouldn't fret on it, just fix, and enjoy it.
Are you sure ins co won't total it? Sounds like a lot of work will be involved to get it back to where it should be.

I'm not sure, the final estimate isn't in. The adjuster looked at it and the shop gave a ballpark figure at that time. So far, the insurance company is ok to fix it.

Very sorry to hear of the accident. As for value loss, think of all the 356s that were wrapped around trees, smashed, totaled, and chopped up - and now command $200,000 - $400,000. ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Sorry to hear that, glad you were ok. I was just thinking that I should get track insurance for an upcoming DE.

So sorry to hear of your off track incident. I hope your insurance covers you well. If you are going to repair the car and have it retain it's imperative that you take it to a shop that will faithfully restore the car down to the fastener. I am currently dealing with a well referred local shop that did great paint work but failed miserably with the reassembly. Best of luck!!

Bent and twisted, can you get your insurance to total it out as it may never drive the same again. I knew a guy who had a similar issue with a 928, he went to great lengths to put it back together. It was never the same and caused him lots of aggravation after the fact.

Sucks to hear. I think if you mainly track the car, just fix it and enjoy. If ghats the route you are taking, have ins. Total out, buy back and fix it for track duty at a discount. I think the hit is going to be substantial, only because I'm in the same boat. GL

If you're looking short term, you will definitely take a hit on price (~%25??). Going forward, a car's current condition will be more important than past issues. Meticulously repaired and documented cars will still be attractive. The number of honest-to-goodness, "no accident" cars gets smaller each year.
Sorry to hear of your mishap, at least the car was being enjoyed when it happened.

I'm with Mr. Clean on this.

Good to hear!![thumbsup](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/bigok.gif)
If the insurance company doesn't total it, look at this as an opportunity to freshen up the paint and put in new glass and lenses etc. As long as the repairs are done properly, the car will look like new when done and you can continue to enjoy it for years to come. Will it have a story? Of course, but the best stories happen when you're having fun.
The gentleman that had his car crushed before delivery doesn't have a story......that's a nightmare.
