I don't have a lot of say in this though. I am just trying to figure out what it's worth if they fix it. My wife says it's easy, stay off the track.

Agreed. I'm just taking this as an opportunity to make it into a great story. Planning on new paint, roll cage, new seats, etc... should be fun

When I bought my Mazda 3 brand new in 2004 I had an incident immediately after signing and faxing the paperwork to my insurance company. The salesman and I hopped in the car and I was going to drive him over to the mazda lot since all paperwork was done at another lot. We got in and I started to back up. THUD!! The salesman looks at me and says "Dude you just f$&*ed up your new car!"
There was a support column for the canopy and I couldn't see it in my mirrors. Turns out I was not the first person to hit the column. Oops

I'm with Mr. Clean on this.
If you're looking short term, you will definitely take a hit on price (~%25??). Going forward, a car's current condition will be more important than past issues. Meticulously repaired and documented cars will still be attractive. The number of honest-to-goodness, "no accident" cars gets smaller each year.
Sorry to hear of your mishap, at least the car was being enjoyed when it happened.

sorry to hear about the mishap
glad you are fine and have a great attitude.
if it's my car, i would push for total.
no matter how well it's fixed. if frame bent, it's a tough sell.
would you buy a bent car without a substantial discount

Wow, sorry to hear-but great you had the track coverage. I always took the gamble, glad I never regretted it.
If you were thinking of selling and getting a track car, why not make this the one, maybe fate intervened here? Then, the worry of diminished value goes away, and you can end up with a great track weapon.
Major diet, the safety equipment and some nice suspension work to go with your freshened engine could be very fun. Just keep up on the track insurance- it's obviously worth it!

I'm looking at that option now Ed. I would need to keep insuring it though since even at diminished value it's worth a fair amount. I was planning to get a cheaper car to track in order to avoid paying for insurance.
