Still absorbing all the good feedback. I want to determine whether it is a bad install, or whether its my personal "missed-expectations" before I bother FDM and/or my mechanic. Thanks to all for the input....

That's not GR issue.

Well, right. It's the SSK short shifter kit that requires this massaged tunnel cover.

Regarding replacing the plastic cups, anyone know if there is better solution i.e something like derlin or the like so that they don't go to mush?

Damn peer pressure, calling Darin now to order the GR, might as well do something to the car

I replaced the whole front cup piece with a screw in 10mm Heim joint. It was an extremely easy DIY, and reduces slop and eliminates risk of the joint failing and the rod falling and not being able to change gear.

I "lost" one of the cups ... the plastic just disintegrated, fortunately I was in 2nd gear and could limp home. I compared the cost of the Porsche oe replacement for both ends and decided to do the GR - SSK and have been very happy . The GR alone would probably have been enough. I didn't realize how mushy the oe setup was until I made the change. I have a C2 so did not have to deal with the AWD variant.

Do you have a pic of what you used or the end result?

My lovely wife bought me the SSK & GR from FD last year, I had it installed by my local shop last fall.
It felt awkward, rattled & hummed............ I was sick to my stomach and put it away for the winter.

So I called FD, spoke to Darin explained the issues and he explained possible causes. I went back to my local shop they took a look and said, yup it was their fault, sloppy install. They fixed it up and all is good !!!

I love all of my FD mods on my C4S, stage II, black wide ovals, the SSK & GR

Best of all, my wife says they were extremely nice and helpful to her when she called to order the parts !

Darin, thanks again for your quick help on the phone !

After the ruckus you caused here , you better go bother your mechanic and make sure it has been installed right. And I am sure Darin would insist!

Here is what I bought from ebay for $10 or so...just replaces the forward-end adjustable piece that holds the nylon cup, then you have to grind off the mounting stud with the ball end and replace with a nice stainless bolt. Took 30 mins.
