Seth,
I know the area very well and Melrose has VERY aggressive police enforcement. Granted, I'm still surprised that they actually pulled you over. Most of the infractions there are jay-walking, rolling stops, blocking intersections, and the like. Must have been a slow day for them. Like Phil, my tickets were while I was parked, and were $20. Sorry to hear you got stopped for something so lame!

When I last got stopped for this I asked the Cop "what's the problem, ever seen a Corvette with a front plate?" He said, that's not the point and said "you should slow down and put one on". No ticket and no plate since (5 years)!

My friends seem to always get their tickets at the airport recently for no front plates. Guess that is how they are assuring our national security, with $20 tickets.
I use to own a Viper (hmm Viperbob go figure) and there is not even a spot to put a front plate on those cars. First, they need every air molecule they can get flowing through the front end. Installing a plate DRASTICALLY cuts airflow and makes the cars run even hotter. New, the dealer gives you a front bracket with the car. To install it, you have to drill holes though the front end. Not a pretty site, and they don't make matching bumper plugs for your drill bit holes.
