Question Help with seat sliders

I found some seats (used Recaro SP-G) I would like to buy. They come with mounting brackets but not the sliders.

I don't really understand how seat fitting works but I have been told that I need new sliders, and the only ones I know about are from Porsche at 200 euros ($227) each! That seems ridiculous - it's nearly as much as I am paying for the seats. (Actually the seller who seems pretty helpful phones around and got this price for me)

Can anyone please help me?
Why do I need new sliders?
Where can I get them from (at a reasonable price) and how do I know which ones to get?
Would it be cheaper (or even possible) to get custom mounting brackets made to fit these seats to my original sliders?

No, do you have a link? On the sparcousa.com site, it seems that they only make seat bases for up to '94 models

see http://www.sparcousa.com/seatbases.asp?make=Porsche

I would go with the Sparco sliders. Fit is great and will solve your issue. They are about $40 ea.

Good luck!

As I said earlier in this thread, on the sparcousa.com site, it seems that they only make seat bases for up to '94 models.

Can you show me a link to the sparco base you mean?

Call Sube Sports in Huntington Beach. That is where I got mine. They fit just fine in my 95. I didnt think their is a difference since 1990.

Graham,

When the SPG went into my car the sliders from the stock seat were simply transferred across to the SPG, they just unbolt/bolt on.
