Default Could this be it!! Its over??!!

Well the lady in NYC called and told me it
was a big hassle for her to take the car in
for a PPI, 'Your the only one who has asked
for this!" I said 'fine you dont want to get it
inspected, I dont want to buy it.'
SO I have been talking to Richard Sloan
for 4 months now and I bought a 97 midnite
blue/cashmere TT from him. Options
are Midnite blue paint, premium sound,
Digital sound (is there a difference?)
aluminum package, Litronics headlites,
Full leather,
Power lumbar seats, supple leather.
New tire s02's. This one has 25K miles
and has the 30K service done. Well my friends
this is it, I wire the money to him tommorow and
I will be getting it in 3 weeks via intercity!
I am relieved, now if I could just start driving it!
Now I can just put a chip in it and I can race Indy!
(after drivers ed of course)

OG,

Well, if this is it, then congrats on your TT! Where do we send the champagne & welcome balloons???

Congrats, again.

sounds like a twin to LeeR's twin turbo (can't remember if his interior is cashmere or grey).

note lurking CHP in the background.....
re: stereo-- there were three basic stereo options
base
hi-fi
DSP (digital sound processor)

i am sure the next three weeks are going to pass VERY slowly

oldguy,

I'll bet you finally have a few gray hairs, and can now truly qualify as an oldguy. Congrats. Midnight blue is an outstanding color (see LeeR's car on this board), and the options sound great. I'm not an expert, but I believe all turbos came standard with Litronics and perhaps full leather. Can you get the original window sticker and copies of the service records (they can black-out the name & addr if they're concerned about privacy)? Can't wait to see it. Hurry.

Congratulations !
I also made a long distance purchase decision and flew to Florida on one cold day in January to witness the Porsche dealer PPI and to drive the car for one day before it arrived in Illinois.
No big deal but the only regret I had was not making a video of the car being unloaded from the Intercity transporter. It was a beautiful sight to behold - after waiting an almost interminable 3 weeks for the car to arrive. Intercity rocks !

Thanks guys, Rich you can send the ballons to
me at my first rennlist run, the champange is
gonna have to wait. Went motocrossing with my
kids yesterday in the desert. Today half my back
doesnt work, proving I am an old guy. So the doc
pumped me up with some flexiril and vicoden.
Nice Doc, good doc! after getting this car, I may
stick to the track in my car instead of on my motocross bike!

Wow. Congrats.

What a ride you have been on. Sounds like you did the right thing. Can't wait until you start posting pictures.

You can do like I did, during the 3 week transit time you can start accumulating new parts...... It helps the time go by..

Bob,

you are truly nuts.
OG hasn't even seen the car yet and you are getting him into trouble already.

Another way to help time go by is to get drunk and stay drunk for the next three weeks.

Wow OG . . . . nice job, it sounds like a great car and obviously you did not compromise and went for the gusto.

Congrat's and I'm looking forward to seeing you/car at the next rennlist run.

Those TT's are damn fast . . . I say from my rear-end view of "old fartus emeritus" and his arena red (with new wheels) all morning . . . felt like I was in reverse . . . thank god he needed to slow down for the corner.

I personally would not miss the chance to fly out , pick it up and drive it home. Last one I did was to fly to NYC with my wife, stayed in the city 2 days then took the shoreline out of Penn Station to Redbank NJ. Seller picked us up and took us to dinner, then put us up in his guest room. Next AM seller and his wife packed us a begel breakfast, made us coffee and we were enroute. Went through Delaware,DC, VA, Tenn, Ark and into Texas. What a great time, would not trade it for the world. Ask Hank Cohn about his trip from SF to Atlanta in his C2...Dont miss a chance to experience our nation in that car! Personally recommend Highway 50"loneliest road in America and home of the Silver State Classic". One year when I was "transporting" my Mustang 5.0 LX convertible I was out on the open range on 50 with just my retriever in the passenger seat just tooling along. All of a sudden from my right came a Huge heard of wild horses that literally I had to slow down to about 20-25 mph as they ran all around the car as we were driving. I will never forget it! Anyway just my .02....

Glen great story, but I have no more vacation! Next week I have
to go see my in-laws (you should NOT be charged for vacation
to see the inlaws!!) so thats it, there are so many things you
could do on a trip like that and I would love to see richards
collection of porsches! including 5 or 6 TT S's. and I have
been on hwy 50 alot. there are some girls that live on that
road if you know what I mean (nevada!!)

oldguy,

Glen is absolutely correct, and with a 25K mile car, another 2k is nothing. Pick it up and drive it home, taking lots of pictures enroute. It will be an unforgetable experience. Plus the savings in the shipping gets you the ECU!

Tom,

A pleasure meeting you; I really enjoyed myself on the trip, and then later chatting at breakfast. I had to work my *** off to stay ahead of your beautiful car. Lets do this again in the fall.

I agree with Glen... my drive from San Diego to Tucson in my "new" 993 was one of my best P-car experiences ever. My friend from work found a website with numerous canyon roads in the area, and I was able to piece them together with some rock climbing stops as well! It made for a fantastic weekend... although your trip sounds like it would be much longer. I think my limited patience was a big factor... three weeks wait would have me climbing the walls... literally!

Congratulations! Mark.
