Battery problem

I have an about 6 month-old battery, and some months back it was losing charge, going flat. After a number of tries, the Porsche garage found out that the a/c-heating unit was causing a loss of charge, and the unit was replaced, and all was OK. In the process, the battery lost charge a couple of times till they finally found it.
About two weeks ago a new radio, a Becker Grand Prix was installed. I have been driving the car for ten days almost daily since. Today, in town, I turned the ignition, and it made a clacking sound and all the instrument lights blinked on and off, and the radio asked for code entry. Luckily, I quickly managed to start it up and went out to the Porsche garage. They did a battery test, and it failed the test, with a "substitute battery" message showing up.
They said they will recharge the battery overnight to see if the battery is OK and call me tomorrow. Even if they tell me tomorrow the recharge process went OK, I have lost confidence in the battery.
Any ideas?

Buy a new Interstate MTP-91. Connect the vent hose. Done.
Completely discharging a batter is killer. Can only do that a few times. When not being driven for a few days, plug in a battery maintainer (c-tek) and yours will last +6 years.

I let my new porsche battery go dead over the winter, replaced with a die hard. I live close to a sears so if there ever is a problem, I can go there and have it replaced. Sears was more convenient than the interstate dealer.

My garage phoned me to tell me that the battery is totally dead, and I am not covered by a guarantee since it is about 1 year old, and I drove it only 500 miles during that time, which is totally wrong, because I drove it over 5,000 miles. Told them so, and they checked and told me I was right, that the tachometer is defective and has to be repaired, so I should get the battery replaced for free.
Anybody hear of a battery going dead within a year?
Unfortunately die hard batteries are not sold here...
