Thanks Guys
I am running the new 3.8 in so haven't really driven hard yet or loaded up the chassis too much but I can already tell you that the welded cage makes an enormous difference.
First of all going from non caged to caged is an interesting lesson is just how much the plasticity in a bodyshell adds to the overall compliance of a car. Around town on jarring bumps, after the springs and dampers the jolts have nowhere to go on account of the vastly increaseed stiffness of the tub. So that means that at slow speed its quite a bit more crashy and I will probably try softening off the PSS10 a few clicks to compensate.
That said, once up to speed, the feeling of rigidity and plantedness is just amazing. Whether you are in tight hairpins or beautiful fast sweepers, the car now feels so much more solid and bolted to the road. The flat to the floor Go-kart factor has just been doubled. Out on the open road it has a new sense of high speed security, like it could do 150+ mph all day long standing on its head.
Also, the way the car turns now has been radically altered by the cage. The bodyshell no longer soaks up some of your input so the steering feels a lot more direct and sharper. It seems more directly controllable on the throttle as well. To sum up, the overall sensation and the impression of composure when nicely loaded in a corner is unfathomably delicious !
The drivetrain is more difficult to quantify at this point because ive not gone over 4k rpm yet but I can say that the throttle feels a lot sharper than it was on account of the new RS single mass flywheel. Also, the clubsport map seems quite edgy which I am getting used to and will be a good thing too. The 3.8 does feel like it has more punch low down. Hard to say right now just how much more powerful or tractable it seems but there is a significant improvement there for sure.
Can't wait to really drive it in anger. My favourite car just got another 30-40% better to drive again. Took her out this morning to get some miles done and I was grining from ear to ear.

That is absolutely stunning. Just perfect.
I read your driving impressions with interest and looking forward for a comparo with your 996 GT3 once you get more miles in the new engine now that the chassis stiffness of your "new 993" should be more on a pair with the GT3.
