Oh No!! .... Not another 993 Speedster Project - Pure Sex Edition
Hello Everyone,
First time posting on this forum. My Twin Brother posts here all the time.... I thought i'd share my new top secret project for my wife (my twin brother doesn't even know):
993 Speedster Grand Prix White - Pure Sex Edition
(i couldn't think of anything catchier then that)
I've been dreaming and drooling over this <ahem> Red 993 Speedster S that many of you might know on this forum. Coincidently, my brother and him are friends....and even stranger.... over the last two weeks through some upsetting circumstances, i have gotten to know him myself, of course i am talking about Jaeger aka Curve lover.
This all started because i was going to buy my wife an A5. Then i thought, we always tune everything, why not get the S5. Problem is they do not make an S5 in the color she likes, Daytona Grey. Secretly i was negotiating a deal to buy a Daytona Grey RS5. But, i could not justify the price, nor the imminent depreciation on the car. Why am i telling you all this? And how did we get to a 993? Well, while i can't justify $80k on an Audi RS5, i thought i would build my wife something special that i could justify, and.... if she doesn't like it.... i'll take it!!
Here is the car I purchased A low mileage mint condition 993 Cabriolet in Grand Prix White:
The car is currently at LA Dismantlers, Todd, the owner and Daniel, the salesman are helping me with this crazy project that i need to get completed by the Porsche Parade on June 14th. This seems like a perfect idea because they have completed many 964/993 Speedster projects, they have plenty of parts, and they are crazy enough to take on this project on short notice (Thank you Todd and Daniel.... sorry for the pain i will cause you!!).
Here is the Speedster kit I Purchased from them:
Scope of the Project:
(1) EXTERIOR
Speedster Kit, windshield, doors, clamshell, top
Turbo Front Bumper - Europeanized
Litronic Headlights
Techart Brake Ducts / Foglights
Euro Front Blinkers (I need help finding this at a good price) - FOUND
Euro Side Marker Lights - Fenders
Turbo-Look Sideskirts - I had these specially made
Euro Rear Turn Signals (I need help finding this at a good price) - FOUND
Rear Center Lense Foglight Modification
Rear 964 spoiler lip (of trailing edge) integrated into 993 spoiler, and possibly integrate the 3rd brake light
Carrera 'S' Rear Spoiler insert painted white
Turbo-style Wheels painted in white (my wife knows how to drive, not worried about curb rash)
Speedster Badge (of course)
(2) INTERIOR
Recaro A8 seats with Seatbacks painted white, white piping and heated elements
993 turbo shiftknob 000044700218YR (I need help finding this)
Aluminum Pedals
Navigation Console (I need help finding this)
White Seat Belts
Tachometer with 'Speedster' silk screened
Stainless Steel Threshold Plates w/ 'Speedster' engraved (I need help finding this)
Because the interior is so personal, i need to wait until after i surprise my wife with the car for her to decide what options she likes, for example, i would do the RS doors in a second... but she is a woman... and women like to carry things.... her current car is one big purse
(3) MECHANICAL
M030 Springs
Bilstein HD Shocks (still debating this one, would like input from cabriolet/speedster owners)
BMC Airfilter
Exhaust (I can't decide) - DECIDED Fister Stage 2
Due to the timeframe, other items have to wait
Please give me your feedback, input, and constructive criticism.
That's all for now, Thanks,
-Ben

Drifting
Good luck with the project. For the exhaust, I'd suspect she'll want a more mellow sound so perhaps Fister Stage 1 mufflers. Down the road if it becomes your car you can either step up the modification to Stage 2 or 3 OR add a sport cat x-pipe and it will sound great!

My motto: "Making the world a more beautiful place, one 993 Speedster at a time"
Warn the Center for Disease Control on this contagious outbreak:
...another RLer who's also building a white NB 993 Speedster just hosted me for a blissful 4-hour drive & dinner. First time I'd met him -- total class act.
Another similarity: he bought his 964 Speedster parts @ LA Dismantlers. I didn't know they did assembly or fabrication; will be fascinating to see their work.
Welcome to RL! Wow, now THAT's how to do a 1st post.
He will as soon as he gets my incoming hyperlink
He & I met in person years ago because of his vision to build his own 993 Speedster; hard keeping this a secret.
Wish I could help more to resolve those upsetting circumstances ASAP!
Big kudos to the RLers who tipped me off; will hopefully soon be a success story of RL's positive power
Wow! How 'bout this weekend's NY/NJ/CT fun run
Look forward to seeing
^^ +1!
TT959-- You're already getting great advice from RLers here ^^ so I'll continue mostly with our e-mails, calls, & texts.
Speaking of which, one's on the way re: your questions last night.
In the meantime: click these thread links for previous questions about...
- "cab ROLLBARS"
- "rear grill paint-- body-color"

Are we talking 2015???!
Going to be interesting this one to get it done in 5-6 weeks without taking a good few, errr shortcuts!..

OP, I like where your head is at. Looks like a fantastic project and will yield something special. Depending on your wife's tastes, I would reconsider Bilstein HDs for dampers. They are on the firm side. Perhaps some Koni adjustables would be more suitable.
