Searched but didn't find much. Anyone use this stuff with success?

Used to use RainX all the time. Snow and especially rain just seem to be "repelled" off the windshield. Hasn't rained much in SoCal but I would recommend the stuff.

 

I use it on all of my cars. I prefer it over my wipers, but it does wash away and if you use your wipers you will wipe it away, so I also put it in with my washer fluid (special mix).

 

Yes, I've used it in the past. Works well.

Use it all the time of cars and aircraft (plastic) windows. Works great in rain and makes it that much easier to clean windows. Bugs and dirt come right off. Highly recommended.

 

Is there a reason not to use it on the inside? Someone selling their car awhile ago made a point about stating that he used Rain-x only on the outside (never inside!) Whats that all about?

Why would you want it inside? It makes water bead and run off at speed. It would be useless inside, unless you mean Fog-X, rainX's anti-fog compound... Does it rain much inside your windshield ? ;-)

It might be good for people who spit a lot while singing tunes !!!

 

I put it on but have a filmy buildup which doesn't go well with sun glare... How should I buff that off without removing the product to begin with?

Beezr, I think you can polish it with some water on the rag to get the haze off of the windshield.

The water beads up so well that at freeway speeds with light traffic (no spray) you don't need to use the wipers.

I don't know if anybody else does this but I put it on the side and rear windows so dirty spray does not stick as much. I can't stand not having it on the windows as the water beads up so much better. The windsheild wipers wear it off so in the wintertime I put it on once a week.

 

I don't like how Rain-X effects the wipers, so I use it on the mirrors, side and back windows only. And only during the rainy season...

I was thinking it might be good inside because when I hit the brakes hard, a first time passenger usually spits all over the windshield as they exclaim HOLY COW! (or something like that)

I have used it for years. The more aerodynamic your car, the faster you have to drive to get the windshield clear. That was about 20 mph in my old Ford van, lots faster in the Porsche!

Seriously, I especially like the way it helps the side windows clear up quickly, as my daily driver is parked outside all year round. It is on the Porsche too, not that we get much rain hereabouts.

On my 928, I need to be above 60 mph for Rain-X to work effectively.
The V1 works all the time. If you ever lose your wipers in a rain storm, you will bless the fact you have Rain-X. It has happened twice to me and both times I was at least 3 states away from home. There is a better product than Rain-X: I found it in Oklahoma and it stays on the glass...can't seem to get the cr*p off even with lacquer thinner. I forgot the name though....sorry.

 

Rain-X -use it all the time-As Ron stated, you can literally drive though a torrential downpour without wipers! Wipers last a lot longer as well....

 

I use it too. Think it also helps provide some lubrication to slightly mininize rock chips.
