Wanted: 993 Compressor Case
As I spread out the contents of my 993 Targa's luggage compartment for judging the other day, I noticed that the case for the compressor is missing one of the toggles to close it. (See photo.)
I'm looking for another case in excellent to perfect condition. Any leads will be appreciated. Please PM me.
Thank you.

The tabs on the 993 cases are so poorly engineered, I suppose it's a good thing that Porsche put their energies in the car but failed miserably on the case for the compressor. The 996 compressor and case are even worse!! These will come up periodically on eBay,but they're usually missing a tab or two as well.
Harlan, I doubt if much engineering went into it, especially from Porsche.
They are likely outsourced to some little company in China that also does all the other cheap plastic cases you see around. I have more than a few tool cases (for air nailers, blades, etc.) all with broken tabs ....

One of the tabs on mine is cracked as well... was at dC Auto last week and they only had one in stock that had both tabs in proper working order. Rob wanted $150 for it including the compressor. I didn't hook on it at that price so its probably still there.
He told me a few years ago he was buying the cases alone for something like $25. Unfortunately, the supplier got out of the business and the old supply/demand thing seems to be driving the cost up.

I wonder who the supplier was.
I used some gorilla glue and then clear silicone on mine. I set it in the original position and let it set over night. There is a bit of flexibility to it so it still flexes and clamps. I doubt my solution is very durable but I don't plan on using it very often anyway.
You are lucky you still have the broken tab.
