I was going to suggest rebuilding it... I just did mine, and it was pretty straight forward.

But for 479 bucks at Autozone, that is a no brainer....

Anyone have any idea why Porsche charges $1,000 more for theirs? Porsche tax?

I changed out my steering rack about 6 years ago, cost was around $400 from PowersteeringPros. They are very easy to work with - quick turnaround. They can tell you if they have a rebuilt one on the shelf. If not, they'll rebuild yours no problem.

Yeh that seems like a great deal from AutoZone. Mine is very slightly leaking now, may need one by next year. Keep us posted Rudy, but with lifetime warranty wow that is impressive.

Default Rebuild

I had mine done by the Rack Dr. in Hemmingway, SC. Quick turn around in just a few days, and no problems whatsoever.

I think we had better look at the fine print before being impressed - just about all the "life-time" warranties that i have seen are not really of much value, since wear/tear is usually excluded, as well as the usuals like abuse (which makes sense). I really like the ones that it has to be installed by a "professional", whatever that means. I am just guessing here though ...

Cheers,

Mike
