Default EXCELLENT SERVICE ALERT

We frequently post our challenges on this and other forums hoping we might get the help we desire to assist us with our Porsche problems.

We check back frequently anticipating someone will respond with a solution that solves the riddle.

Its very refreshing to read the help provided to complete strangers from many knowledgeable sources. One such source is Steve from Rennsport Systems.

I have read about Steve and have followed many threads which he has participated in and until today never had the opportunity to speak with him.

I can say that what you may have heard about the exceptional service extended by Steve is very accurate. He kindly spent time with me on the phone answering all my questions, educated me on possible causes and offered solutions to help. The type of service you rarely get today.

Needless to say I'm looking forward to dealing with Steve and Rennsport Systems.

Mike

Yes, Steve Weiner is a great asset to this board.

Not only a breadth of knowledge, but a class act all the way

Steve is the best. He's building me a 3.8L and regearing my box for me right now (the fulfillment of a longtime fantasy...I blame rennlist) and I am loathe to think how many hours he's spent patiently explaining things over the phone. Very classy gentleman, and so generous with his time and knowledge.

Steve is great. He was very helpful with my rebuild, and always took the time so I could understand the reasoning behind why certain things were done certain ways.:thumb up:

That is going to be one sweet ride.

I know! I can hardly wait the month or so it'll take to finish. It's going to be a stunning upgrade.

I considered a 993 Turbo or 996 or 997.1 GT3 but I am just in love with these naturally aspirated, narrow bodied C2s, as are so many of us. The decision was more about passion than numbers, but I still want to make my example the nicest it can possibly be.

Steve's shop is among the best 2 or 3 shops in the country, and I figured if I was going to do it, it should be done by the best. Rennsport/Rothsport uber alles!

+3.6 for Steve. I could swear he sent me my new chip recently, before I paid for it.

Ah, so yours is the engine we chatted about Saturday night.

Not really giving anything away here, but Steve summoned me to the principal's office, and I had him on speakerphone for the better part of an hour so my wife could listen in. Now even she wants to get up to Portland for a visit in person!

Yup. That's likely mine.

They're doing exciting (and highly rigorous) work up there in the strange city of Portland. I plan on paying that man a visit sometime in the next month, as well. Maybe I'll see you up there? I'm not sure I'll be able to convince my old lady to join me, though. She's being a good sport, but I suspect my neigh constant blathering about Porsches is driving her to the ragged edge of apoplexy.

Steve is a class act. When I recently purchased a 996 turbo in OR and needed advice as I live in RI for a PPI he took all the time needed to discuss the car and then set me up with a local shop to do the inspection. Not often one gives up his time to help a complete stranger. Wish we had those resources and class acts in the New England area.

Steve rescued my transmission swap project. A tiptronic ECU in a manual transmission car will turn on the CEL for a transmission fault. After trying all of the hardware tricks I could think of the problem was still not resolved. The tip ECU had to be replaced with a manual trans ECU. Then there was a problem with programming the new ECU that looked like it was going make it unusable. Two different dealerships could not help. One claimed to have talked to PCNA who said it was not possible to program a manual transmission ECU for a car with a tiptronic VIN. I talked to Steve, he said he could take care of it and give me some 'enhancements'. I sent him my new ECU and he turned it around very quickly. When I got it in the car I headed out to do the OBD drive cycle and was so excited with the results I was screaming, yelling, and laughing while driving. I'm an engineer, I don't get that kind of emotional. Then after I called him and told him I was very happy he sent me the bill. Then I was happy all over again. With Steve the service/cost ratio is huge.

Did I mention I am a disciple?
