Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

JP, you ended up with a truly great specimen! You're one of the few people who can have a true appreciation for old and new. As I said it before, enjoy it in good health for many years to come!

Congrats, I've thought about a Cayman S too for a while.
Enjoy it in good health (retired) Pope.

Congrats. Those are fun cars. A 981 Cayman S might be in my future. They are badass.

Im waiting for DFI cayman prices to become super affordable as they are great little cars for beating around.
A friend of mine has a lapis blue 2006 S on the 19" wheels and Id take it today if he offered it to me.

I had one for 6 1/2 years and loved it. Arctic silver with a black interior, sports seats, sport chrono, nav, xenon etc. Such a great car.

JPP - Are you thinking about tracking the Cayman? Worried at all about the IMS or sump issues? As another former 914 driver, I know where you're coming from. Mid-engined Porsches are a blast.

JP...Congrats!!

Yours is equipped almost identically to mine with the exception of the seats.
The Cayman is a great complement to the 993....a lot of fun on the track as well!

Cheers!

Seriously badass. A slight tweak on the exhaust system and you're looking at close to 350h.p. ... nothing to sneeze at in such a light car.

I think they will be a collector some day .. like a Clubsport.

Well .. maybe the Cayman 'Sport' and Cayman R ... and the new Cayman GTS. I'm betting my little S will continue to depreciate until ... well until I sell it.

I looked at a Cobalt over black .. very nice combo.

The more I drive this one, the more I'm agreeing with you. Can't keep my hands off those 'sport' buttons ..

I'm not ... my track days are over, but I did enjoy the 914-6 a LOT at Seattle International back in the day.
If I were going to do it, I would definitely look into the aftermarket products made to get more oil in the system to avoid the oil starvation issues on the IMS motor for sure .. but at less than 1% failure on a street car, I think the risk is negligible.

I mean...really...how could you get a water cooled car

I went the opposite direction...already had a coupe so I went convertible. Great cars to drive actually.

FYI will be in Santa Rosa after PCA Parade...let em know if you will be around and will try to meet up...looks like I will have the Spyder in tow.
