I have the Breyer Krause. Excellent quality and fits completely under the OEM trunk felt.

Quad just hinted this in his earlier post, do these strut bars actually make a difference for street/spirited driven cars?

in terms of driving performance, i'd say you would not notice. for me the reduction in windshield noise was worth it.

Its really depends on how hard you drive and what you do with the car. Normal street use, not much.

Spirited country roads, the effect is noticeable. Sticky tires make it more so.

It made a huge difference on my 911SC Targa, my 993 has always had it, and is a coupe, so 1. I have never driven the 993 without one, and 2. Probably makes less difference on a coupe vs. a cab.

One the other hand, it probably won't hurt anything either.

TRG carbon fiber brace is around $175. It fits under the carpet.

Another Perfect Power recommendation - well made and finished, sits under the carpet nicely (or over if you want to) and stopped my windscreen creak which is a good indication of the job its doing. I'm no engineer but can't see how a hinged brace can be more effective than direct span braces such as this, the RUF and Matter/Fabspeed ?

Funny, that's why I installed a PerfectPower bar on mine. It sure got rid of that morning noise.

Anyone have better pics of the PerfectPower brace? The one pic on the site kinda sucks...

Also, any pics of the RUF brace installed? That's the one I've been planning on getting.

Thanks!

Why hide it under the carpet?

Keep in mind that if you get an actual RUF brace then you need to replace the four front strut mount bolts with 24mm long ones. The RUF brace is a straight drop-in for 964's but not on the 993.

Thanks to everyone for all the great information and dialogue. I ended up ordering the one from PerfectPower, as I liked their design the most.

Hmm ... I have installed a RUF brace (and a copy RUF brace), and the recessed holes seem deep enough to get lots of thread on the nuts without changing the studs. The 964's and 993's are the same at the strut towers from what I have seen (and the same suspension underneath).

Cheers,

Mike
