Default Vehicle Buy Back

So, today I received a nice letter from the Bay Area (SF) Air Quality Management District. Since the registration on my '88 Carrera is due to expire, they are offering me $1,000.00, if I turn my (beloved) Carrera over to an auto dismantler. This, an attempt to improve the air in the SF Bay Area. What a kind gesture! This covers all vehicles prior to 1995, so you guys are still safe! I'm sure I could get a better offer from a R Lister but "dream on…….." Of course there is a disclaimer if the vehicle is a "classic or otherwise valuable to you". DUH!!

Rick,
Don't do it. I'll give you $2000, sight unseen. I'll even pick up the slag heap. Thank me later.

Oh wait... I just noticed you also have a 1965 SC. I'll help you out by taking them both... $3000.

Our California tax dollars at work, they need our money for their pay raise this year, From the taxes you will need to pay when you buy a newer car......

Hmmm.....always forget about this. Could be my backstop if the buyer for the '84 Targa backs out at $2K.

Knock yourself out............ http://www.baaqmd.gov/ (There are several around the state.)

And actually, it's not solely for air quality in the Bay Area (for us). Rather, it's what blows down into the Central Valley and stagnates.

Another tidbit for you: baaqmd's spare-the-air program prohibits burning anything in your fireplace when a spare-the-air day is declared. We had 30 this past winter. Also, conventional fireplaces are not allowed in a newly constructed home

Only the socilaist republic of CA would waste our hard earned dollars on creating jobs for idiots to send out mass amounts of letters. Why don't they just increase the sales tax again, or increase the state income tax? That always seems to work!

Yeah, those socialist countries like Norway, Denmark, Sweden are all failing. Unless you like clean air, free healthcare, stellar education, amazing infrastructure, low crime and highest qualities of living in the world.

By the way, the US has socialism that most really like: they're called Medicare and Social Security. Polls show that the vast majority of Americans cherish both programs

Taxes are part of the problem, but here in the US, the big one is corruption.
