Okay, I've lurked these forums long enough and now that I'm on the brink of purchasing a MY96 993 turbo (what a test drive), I'm looking for a few opinions.

I understand pricing on these cars is highly subjective (how much so-and-so really wants it), but is it considered "normal" to have some scratches underneath the chin and also on the back end (just the exhaust)? No real damage, just scratches.

Is that something that would really detract from price or should I just forget about it? Perhaps if you all suffer from the same, I'll not care the slightest.

I still have my MY00 986, and knowing how careful I've been with that, I still got the front end twice.

While some of these scratches may be "normal" wear and tear, it should not stop you from usings these blemishes as negotiating points.

Thanks for the input viperbob and 96P993. I care less about the front than the exhaust. I hope they'll knock off a few bills for that.

Once I get the car, I'll next aspire to be worthy of HWFM Racing.

Mine had huge scratches under the chin. When you get the car, get the front protection bar right away.

The scratches should not stop you from buying the car, but you can ALWAYS negotiate a bit..

You're bound to scratch the front/rear sooner or later.
