Default Front Bumper to Body Seal - Part Number and Difficulty?

My front bumper to body seal looks like it is getting a bit past it. Perhaps it might be adjusted? Looks like it is rubber 'stapled' to another material and held in place via pressure between the bumper and body.

Anybody know the part number for both sides, and the degree of difficulty in changing it out?

Don't have a part number for ya. But they are easy to find. Yes it's stapled to the bumper itself and some people use adhesive to keep it tacked down. I think 9m did a post on how to install them the best way.
That's all I got

Hi Ben,

Yes, they are stapled and glued to the front bumper cover - and replacement it really kind of easy. I'll dig out the part numbers for you later when I get home...

Anyway - I didn't use any staples to re-attach mine, and just used 3M adhesive. the reason being is that I wanted to be able to adjust the fillet after the cover was back in place. That was about 40,000 road & track miles ago, and they seem to have stayed in place without a problem? Or maybe - I have just been lucky

Hope this helps!

Hi Ben,

My guess - is "probably" can be adjusted, as long as the piping isn't hard or brittle (I don't know if they get that way, as mine weren't?). Anyway - I'd just remove the staples in the section that looks "proud" to you, and use some adhesive to tack it in place. You'll know after a day if it starts coming back out - in which case, its probably taken on a "set", which may be tough to deal with (heat from a hair dryer or something might let you work with it to put it back into shape as well??).....

Yikes, 11 on the scale.

Maybe next time I get my car partially disassembled for a thorough detailing then...

Ben if you decide you can't adjust them or realize they're to brittle and want to go with new ones, we can get them for you. For more information Click Here.

What I got from Colins thread (which was a 10/10 btw) is that the piping will have some natural ups and downs when viewing the car, when installed correctly. I believe several persons with original piping confirmed this in the thread. Following his DIY, I think it may be easier and you can accept the results that that was how it came from the factory.

However, anybody who just bought the piping and 'went for it' I can completely see mistaking these variances for install error, even if you got it right - hence +1 on your comments making a seemingly easy DIY, tricky and frustrating - kudos to Colin for showing us how to do it right.

last year mine were starting to come loose so I removed the bumper and took off the piping and reinstalled. The biggest pain was cleaning all the adhesive off the piping and the inside of the bumper. I assume it had been done once before from all the glue everywhere. It was really a serious pain to clean up. I reinstalled with Pliabond but did not know about using staples so I just used the glue. If it comes loose again I would use the staples for sure.
