Original clutch? Suspension? If so that's 5-6k in not distant future.
Do PPI by porsche specialist if you are considering.
I'd say this car is still 7-10 grand overpriced.
I found an independent mechanic 30 miles from where I am, Deman Motorsport, to do a PPI. Anybody knows them, are they the right shop? The owner said he'll do it for $150 an hour and should take 2 to 3 hours. Is it worth the $500? apparently they know the dealer well, so wondering if I'll get a real unbiased opinion.

Rick Deman is good and an sponsor here. Be sure to mention Rennlist when scheduling a PPI

$300-450 is not out of line for a good and thorough PPI, but that still doesn't fix the ridiculous price on a previously damaged/wrecked car.

Heard this from several people as well.

When they are doing PPI they are working for you not for the dealer.
PPI is usually 500 bux, but make sure this price includes leakdown and compression.

What about service/repair records for the car? Major service is at 60k. What about rotors/pads other maintenance items? Has SAI been cleaned? For $45k car all this should have been done plus new clutch plus new suspension. If not, you are looking to spend another $10k in the next couple of years. And if you need a top end that's another 5-8k.
How about rust by the windows? I'm just throwing things from top of my head.

As Ed said, this still doesn't fix the price of the car. Even at 45k it's 10k too much. If this car was a good deal, it would have been gone by now. I say offer them 33k and go from there.

I agree. My plan is to offer them $40k if I get a good report from the PPI and get confirmation based on the PPI that the accident was just cosmetic (bad scratches as the dealer described).

I took my old C4S to Rick DeMan for a PPI at the request of its new owner when I was selling it a year ago. It's a top notch shop, they know 993s, and have a great reputation.

Come to think of it, they did a bunch of work on my current 993 about 6-7 years ago for its then owner. PSS10 suspension, gear box rebuild, 90K service, all big ticket items. The car is set up and runs like a champ.

So yes, I have no doubt they will be fair in their assessment of the car. I'm actually surprised that Town has agreed to take the car 30 minutes away for a PPI. They must be confident in its condition too. But the PPI will tell you the whole story. It's $500 well spent.

Bad idea. Agree on a price before the PPI. What happens if the PPI came clean and they shot down your offer? You're out $500 and they already have a PPI done which could potentially help them sell the car faster to the next interested party.

Thank you all, very good info and should be helpful either on this one or for the future. I very much appreciated it.

A 993 with accident history is not worth $40K today. High $30s maybe if repaired to high standards.

You can buy a lot of car for $40k

The black 95 on this forum is a better choice. Staten island. 96k miles for $35k. Looks far more legit. Ask yourself if you wanna be explaining this white cars history go the next buyer in a couple years or whenever you decide to move on.

Yes, agreed price BEFORE getting PPI, and contingent on you accepting PPI. If stuff comes up, THEN you negotiate as you feel proper. Any car is probably going to have something show-some minor, hopefully not major.
