997 sport seats or Recaro pole positions? Any coulda, woulda or shoulda from either of the above (993) installs? Trying to decide which slope to jump off of. I am pretty clear on the +/- of both (weight, cost, installation etc....) but was hoping to try and get that push (either way) which will help my indecision. Thanks in advance for any help.

Also factor your height into the equation. The harness holes are low in the PP's so if your over 6' the strap angle won't work. Of course for a street application this wont matter.
I've got the 997 GT3 seats & love em for the street.

With that waist size you won't have a problem fitting into the Recaros. I had them on my RSA and loved them. Even on long drives.
The 997 sport seats are very comfortable and supportive, better than the 993 hard backs (I have both, so yes I can speak heresy).
I guess it comes down to personal choice and the direction you're taking the car.

I tend to lean 2wards the PP's other than losing rear seat (storage) access and price. But then the weight savings?????? I'm having a hard time. Maybe someone will take pity upon me and offer me a deal I can't refuse. :-)
Also I presently have 8 way power, supple leather D/P seats, other than side mounts what else would I need for PP's?

Allow me to suggest the Konig 5000 series. Very nice bolsters and they flip forward. Not light but VERY strong. That's the seat Ruf uses for the 993s. They will NOT fit a large person.

You will need sliders (unless you plan to bolt them to the floor) and seat belt receptacles as the ones currently on your seats are too tall. You could use the rear seat belt receptacles.
I would also suggest new seat bolts since the OEM ones are made of cheese. Be prepared to have to drill them out. They are ridiculously soft and very easy to strip.

I quite like my Pole Positions. I've even done a 12hr drive in them.
I can still access my rear seats for storage somewhat. Just put one seat forward and one seat back.

Just looked these up. They look almost identical to the Konig seats that my MkIV R32 came with. Very supportive seats! Didn't know they were available as aftermarket.

My 02Cents
sport seats are hard to find and claiming extreme $$$ - (prices)
PP would be a great seat if you don't mind climbing over the bolsters and sliding under the stearing wheel. - (no tilt)
This would be the only draw back, I don't enjoy moving my driving postion - (sliding seats around)
Id have to admit a long 9 hour drive can begin to toll on the butt and back as they are carbon fibre hardback shell seats - (padding)
pole positions are extremely light seats compared to stock or sport seats. - (weight)
Buckets seats with tight area in the sholders if you have broad sholders - ( lack of flip fwd to access back and pinchy sholder area)
PP's are amazing. Miss the up and down adjustability and no heat but damn these are the right seats for this car in the corners.
Such great bolsters for sporty driving. Tuff to beat. Did I mention they are light
inside track sliders are needed and mounts of course. I think they offer extra padding for the butt and if not then one could easily have someone fab some thicker cushions.
Could be painted to match (backs)
Harness holes for race harness option. Do require a buckle change as ilko mentioned.

Just to clarify, you are talking about the 997 Sport Bucket seats, right? I've had PPs and Sport Buckets and really liked the 997 Sport Bucket if for no other reason that I could easily access the rear seat area. Both were comfortable for me (160 lbs, 5-10, 33 waist). One nice thing about the PP is you can use their custom leather program for something like $120 a seat and get any of their colors for the inserts - even tri-color like the 964 RS seats. And the PP is considerably less expensive...

Then I would suggest the 997 sport seats and the PP are apples and oranges. Both are about the same price, but the PP is a racing shell with slots for 6-point harnesses, where the 997 seat is just a "regular seat" and not really any better in my opinion to the stock seats that came in our 993s. I've been enjoying my 993 with stock seats for 2.5 years and find them just as comfortable / supportive as the 997 Sport Seats I had for many years in my 997s.
