The black one is really cool. I like them both but the interior on the silver one is drek. That steering wheel and those seats really turn me off.

But that black one is sex on wheels IMHO. I love that it foreshadows much of the 993 styling a decade prior.

Pricewise, if you've got that kind of cash lying around I don't think you can go wrong so long as you don't find yourself in a position to sell it sooner rather than later.

If you've got the time, it will go up eventually. If you "overpay" it just means you have need to keep it longer.

I was mistaken the car recently purchased by a NJ rennlister was not the same car although similar and he paid the same price. The red 959 sold 7, 2012 for nearly half of the current market. This was a very clean non certified example and came with the Bosch hammer for the 959 which is worth a fortune by itself.

The two 356's next to it are probably worth more now.

Last time I paid any attention to these cars, they were in the 4's, a lot has happened in the last 12-18 months.

Last 959 I can remember seeing in person was parked next to a couple rental cars at the Cavallino Classic in Palm Beach...



Like I said in previous post, the 959 never got me real excited because most of the time I see them in pictures. I think they look rather funny in pictures.
But in person, they are pretty stunning.
The best one I've seen in person, is the white one below (1988 Sport Model) that was shown at Radnor Hunt about 5 years ago. Now I really love the orange 934 behind it...

... IIRC this white 959 had super low miles, maybe less than 1k

Yikes. The buyer is pretty much buying a vin# and that's it. This has to be a bubble, right? How can anyone say the car that is going to wear that vin is an original porsche anymore... it's a replica by the time it's recreated.

Whether to drive or collect, you simply cannot overpay for a 959. They rank amongst the greatest Porsche's ever built, and one of the most important cars from any manufacturer, of the modern era.

However, you can overpay if you just bought that black one at any price, as here is what it looked like in 1993 before rebuilt by Porsche for more than it cost new in 1988.

Agreed. Like the way it looks or not it was a very important car in the history of Porsche and will just continue to increase in price.

Yeah but one of the most valuable Ferrari GTO's today was in far worse condition before a $2 million dollar restoration some 20 years ago. A totaled F40 sold at BJ auctions last week for $900k it was completely restored and painted black which all of them were delivered in red. After a point originality can work for or against you

That back F40 was from "Fast and Loud" and I heard it sold for closer to $600k.
