New Targa at Detroit

2003 Mercedes SL bashing all over again. Same criticism from the same minority of people who weren't even considered as a target pool by the manufacture to purchase the car in the first place.
Too heavy, too ugly, to complicated, blah, blah, blah. Mercedes sold a gazzillon retractable hard top SL's and I have never heard any internet hyerbole about it failing. Porsche will sell a ton of these also, just not to the 1% that read the 993 Rennlist board everyday.
I love it and hope to be able to have one someday.

You can have one someday. Google "VW long term quality Porsche Targa expensive replacement out of warranty" in 2020

Why worry about mechanical top malfunctions. The Targa owner will sign a lease, drive the car, and turn it in at lease end. Next comes the certified pre-owned warranty and sale to a new (unsuspecting?) customer, none of whom are on this forum……

You are describing my 993 targa. So things haven't changed much for Targa's in 18 years.

Just came from the Detroit Auto Show.
That Targa is great looking. The lines with the rear glass make it the best looking 991 I've seen.

I like both old (993) and newer ones (997). The 997 is headed down the road and a new Targa is headed in. I think it looks GREAT. I must be in Porsches target market. My wife says I have an illness.
