Default Got the wrong plugs ?

In the 993 maintenance kit I got from suncoast came 12 plugs from Beru.
I recall reading that you had to watch for the correct type, and the "plugs DIY" on P-car mentions that you should use a 3 pronged electrode plug, not the 2 pronged type !

Of course the Berus are wrong.... What should I do, send them back and complain ? Seems to me if they are still included in the kits (way after the DIY was written up), maybe Porsche knows something we don't? Or..... do they ?

What is the problem with those plugs anyway, wrong heat range ? will they be bad for the engine or just not as good as they could be? Anybody tried them? I am just annoyed I have 12 supposedly useless plugs now. if they work in another car (and I can't exchange them) let me know so I can donate them !

My memory is a little fuzzy but I think there was a change to the plug part number. I ran into this whan I did the 30k service last year. I think if search worked you could find the thread from last June.

I put the ones that came in the tune up "kit" and have had no prollems

Default Correct Spark Plug for NA 993's

This is the question I posed to PCA in their Tech Section:
I just purchased an Official Porsche Maintenance Kit for my 993. The sparkplugs included are dual electrode Beru's, Beru P/N 14FR6LDU (Porsche P/N 999 170 195 90).

EVERYONE on Rennlist as well as my Factory Service Manual, claims I need triple electrode plugs such as the Bosch P/N FR5DTC (Porsche P/N 999 170 182 90).

The supplier I bought the Porsche Assembled Kit from says that the dual electrode plug has superceded the triple electrode plug in PET.

Which plug is correct?

Their answer:
Both are correct. When someone relies on PET to make their statements, they must realize PET is a software product which comes with a database. Software products and databases have version numbers. Those tell us how new or old the information is. My copy of PET shows both; it is Revision 6.03 with Update 150. The 14FR 6LDU is marked WW, which in the glossary, means: "THE PART CAN BE USED INSTEAD OF THE PRECEDING ONE". That glossary is in the V-Pages, on page 08-05 Legends & Notices.

In the future, it would be great if some newer version of PET would go on the internet and get up-to-date information directly from Porsche AG, or PCNA, instead of having everyone each on their own uniquely dated snapshot of the information.

When you get the maintenance kit from Porsche it always comes with spark plugs that have 2 electrodes.

According to the latest PET the information is still the same : The plugs with two electrodes can be used instead of the ones with 3 electrodes.

Note that this is a kit that Porsche assembles especially for the 993 maintenance, not something your dealer/parts shop puts together themself.
Most dealers use this very same kit for a 40k km service on a 993.
