Question conv. top question?

i seem to be having a problem with my top that two upholestry shops couldn't solve. so perhaps someone on the board here can help.

Problem: When my top goes down the headliner does not fold tightly to the top. As a result, the headliner hangs out and flaps when i drive (without the boot of course). Does anyone know who or how to fix this?

Cheers,
Boris

I don't know how much flapping your headliner makes but mine does the same. I believe that's the reason we need to put on the boot to keep the liner from being damage. I know it's a pain to put on the boot if you just want to drive 5 miles with open-top to Starbucks.

Let me know what you find out.

I bought my 86 cab sans boot cover. One summer in the sun, and the liner turned into crepe paper and tore apart. I won't make the same mistake with the 993. Put on the boot cover.

Not sure if it is the same as my 97, but try this - Fold the down about 1/2 way and look into the way the top folds at the side. There should be a piece of elastic on each side of the top that pulls the top and liner down. This is a poor explanation - I will try to get a picture and post it tonight.

Mine has those elastic too. I need to replace them so the top can fold down properly. For now, I just lower the to top to almost all the way down and use my hands to put things in place before lowering it all the way down.
