Totalled up my 2013 993 (non-mod) expenses $2143. How'd you do?

Steve, you nearly gave me a heart attack.
Never use the word "totaled" in the same sentence as "my 993". Don't do that again man !
Tires, shmires...that's a consumable expense and it doesn't count.
Heck, I bought 12 new tires last year for my 2 E30s and my wife Cabrio.
Be careful out there !

+1... me as well
ALso read the title so quickly that the number the insurance company gave you was $21,xxxK - yikes, reason I'm on Agreed Value policy because that is probably all they'd want to give you and be Sh*t out of luck.
Better that is is just a couple grand TOTAL to dump into car this year, hopefully lighter for you the next couple

Am I the only one who finds $174 for mounting and balancing tires to be excessive?
It costs me 90CAD tops.
My 2013 expenses (excluding mods) was around $800. That was for some fresh oil and new timing chain cover gaskets.

Not talking mods. Just repair work, new tires and all done at various indie's since I do no work myself. This year is going to be VERY expensive. Just got a list of stuff that needs attention from my "new" indie and it's almost $6k plus the new turbo twist wheel I just bought for $350 that should arrive on Thursday. Hate to see what the rest of the year will cost me. Hopefully it will be moderate.
$2143
$796 Continental all season tires from Tire Rack shipped to indie on last day of the year
$174 Mount and balance tires at indie
$531 Auto Temperature Control unit installed (remanned control unit) from BBA
$354 Fix speaker door panel that was loose, and various small fixes done last month
$286 Air belt sensor - replaced belt tension sensor
How about you? I had hoped for an average over 10 years of $3k a year for repair work on this car. It's cost more I think on average for the 10 years I've owned it but has been worth it.

All this says a lot for DIY. Lotsa help out there on about all these issues. I certainly am not a professional when it comes to working on my 993 but I have found that just about anyone who is mechanically adept, in anyway, can follow some of the instructions on these helpful websites. The first one that comes to mind is pcar.com, the second is this board! Has saved me mega $$$$ over the years.

Not counting the vast number of mods I made to my 993, I can safely say that it has been one of the most reliable and inexpensive cars I've ever owned, either on a cost-per-mile basis or otherwise.
