Default Backdating the 993 to 73

Has anyone tried to backdate a 993.
According to this thread, it's possible:
https://rennlist.com/forums/964-forum/339373-my-993-964-backdate-project.html

But is there any road blocks when it comes to backdating a 993 versus backdating a 964?

A 993 has very different lines where the front fenders bolt onto the body. it will take a whole lot of surgery to pull it off.

The 993 community lynch mob that will show up at your door with pitchforks...

The real question is; why would you want to? Just to get the 993 rear suspension?

Everyone should do with their car as they please, but if you do that, you will be throwing the value of the 993 to zero and couple have just gotten a 964 or before for less than just the devaluation of the 993 I would guess

1st post... suspect.

That car in the old 2007 thread (993 to 964-ish car) is quite possibly the ugliest car I've ever seen LOL. Why on earth would you backdate just the front and rear of a car (especially with that chin spoiler) and not try to complete the rest? 993 NB rockers with 964 front and rear is quite gross. At LEAST try to replicate the side skirts like with the old RUF one that kinda look like 964 skirts. If youre gonna backdate a 993 because it's been wrecked, go back to long hood status. Dont do a blocky chunky 964 bumper set.

I did a quick (read: sh!tty) photoshop of a 993 with a "long hood" and ducktail. It's totally possible with enough custom bodywork and time. The body lines and shape rolls under the car much more naturally. Do something like THIS, not that... lol.

wow. this is just a BAD idea... that's like saying you want to exchange a $50k mutual fund for a $25k mutual fund because you prefer the envelopes the reports come in. you already have the better envelope.

Checked longhood prices lately? Especially if you move into cars with similar power-weight ratios? As I just posted in another thread, my '73 faux RS is the most valuable of my fleet. Equal to the value of both of my 993s? Probably, with show level paint. (No way, no how am I doing that.) But probably a solid bet that it's 1.5 times what the 550HP Ruf R Turbo I'm getting Friday is. So go figure......

If you backdate a 993 to a longhood, do you keep the engine tray?

A 993 would have a very similar "to-do" list as a 964, to backdate. The mounting flanges for the fenders are the same for 911, 964 & 993. Of course, the to-do list would be greatly influenced by your tastes and budget. As far as road blocks, anything is doable given time and money, right? ;-)
