MSRP is not yet determined, but will likely be pricy.

I am on the waiting list at my dealer. Want PTS arena red over cashmere. Fingers crossed.
If this is true, that would be very interesting and cool.

You're all wrong.

The next version will be based on the new Bug. It will be front engine, and front wheel drive on all models. Tranverse mounted four-cylinder will be stock. All will have a CVT.

The sport version will be supercharged and have a regular automatic. It will also have eight dampers per corner, all linked to a central computer unit. It will have variable-strength swaybars controlled by the same computer. It will have twenty-seven servos per wheel that can change caster, camber, and toe angles +/-45 degrees at the request of the central computer. Another set of servos monitors movements of each wheel in three-axes, which will be graphed in one-second intervals in a 3D model by the central computer, uploaded via satellite to a server where a computer at the Porsche factory determines the best damper setting. This info is then relayed back to the car via satellite, at which point a prompt on the dashboard screen will show up asking if you want to implement this new data in the suspension system.

The super sport version will be the sport version with "Super" written on the back with a Porsche Design writing instrument.

Oh, and its going to look like this: (Thanks to the flickr user timthemix who snapped a photo during its debut!)

The internet is great, where anything can be true, even if proven false. ANd every day can be April 1st.
The 991 already is the new 928.

If I'm not mistaken, it is larger than the 928 in virtually every dimension.

There is no more 911, really. Which means they definitely could create a "new" model with roughly the same dimensions as the 993/964 and a motor behind the rear axle.

All true. The Cayman, aside from the engine placement, basically is Porsche's answer to the old air-cooled 911s in a modern package.

The Cayman is now the sports car.

The 911 is now their GT.

Alternate point: downsize the current 911 15% and I seriously doubt it will be anywhere close to the 993's dimensions. It is that big ...and to me that's just bad.

Call me nuts, backwards, or just skeptical, but I don't think Porsche is going to go toward the 993's size; it's just now what most folks (read "money") want right now. Heck, even the Mini and Bug have grown, sheesh!

The 991 has become a sales success, it runs the ring in unheralded times, it's more comfortable and weighs only marginally more than a 993. I see more evolution, but not steps to make it a new 993.

Isn't a Cayman just a boxster coupe?

You know, if they'd just restore the creases in the front hood, the whole car would seem slimmer. Yeah, the Cd would go up and top speed/gas mileage go down, but we're talking aesthetics here. I'm sure the car would still go fast.

you must be joking. if you had spent maybe 15 seconds with google you would realize your statements are so blatantly wrong its laughable.

the 991 is roughly 176 inches. the 993 is roughly 168 inches. that is 8 inches, as opposed to the roughly 25 inches your 15% figure implies.

width, 991 is 71, 993 is 65. 6 inches vs your 10 inches. closer, but still way off.

finally, height, 991 is 51, 993 is 51.6...so wrong again.

care to revise your estimates?
