Odyssey 30
Had this installed about a year ago to save weight, about $220, it was supposed to be heavy duty...damn thing has been misbehaving for the last 6 months, randomly failing, finally failed completely; it would not take a charge off my solid state charger.
My local shop recommend replacing it with a Mazda Miata Interstate battery, only 4 Lbs more, about 24 Lbs, and $125. So far so good.
I am completely over the Odyssey 30 "Heavy Duty" battery, and the feeling is mutual

Bosch battery
The factory Porsche battery does looks great in a 993. Recently, I bought a Bosch battery from Pep Boys. It looks better to me as opposed to a Kirkland, Autozone or Walmart battery.
I have no idea who actually makes the Bosch battery but it has a 3-year replacement, 8-year pro-rated credit towards a new one and free roadside assistance.
Currently $114 at Pepboys (Discount coupons can be found online)

Pulled my dying 8 year old Interstate out (11 volts) and replaced it with an AC Delco 91 PS, it fit perfectly using the OEM hold down clamp, all for $99......Heresy I say.

I agree with the oem style Porsche battery as being the best...the ultimate is the heated Hard Back Sport battery... color matched to the car. No need for the "cold cranking amps" rating, when you got super heated electrons bouncing between plates.
You'll never put the bonet rug back in the car again with that beauty installed.

For those of you from the Pacific Northwest or traveling to take part in the epic 993 FEST event, there is a rumor that those with an OEM battery get a event discount and preferential parking at the event.

[QUOTE=Eurotrio;11341488]::I can't believe but I actually read all the pages LOL
I can't believe I read it all, either. OEM Porsche battery failed within weeks of buying my CPO car. I bought it 51 months after the in-service date. Interstate and CTEC have been been doing great ever since.
