My '97 C2 had the original OEM battery in it when I bought the car in 2006. Finally replaced the battery 2 years later (11yrs) with a red top Optima.

I too continue to use the OEM Porsche brand batteries in the P cars. Just seems to fit, correct CCA and vent tubing on the preferred side etc.... Edit: In the 944 the battery is front and center visually speaking. So Bob's battery company brand doesn't look the part... Details, details,....

+993 on the Interstate brand for our diesel sedans.. Plenty of less than Zero temps (F) in the Colorado mountain winters. These compression ignition diesels must reach a minimum RPM cranking to light up. The Interstate brand has a uber CCA spec'd euro sized casing where others did not.

Our MY06 VW Jetta TDI 1.9 with its DSG gearbox has difficulty reaching the minimum RPM needed to light up when at high altitude and the ambient temps near zero degrees Fahrenheit. The DSG trans fluid thickens enough to drag down the RPM during the diesels starting sequence. Additionally the altitude's thin air effects compression at the start sequence just enough. Sometimes the difference between starting and not is a battery in tip top condition with plenty of reserve.
This high CCA spec'd Interstate battery has provided the clout for a few years... Our Colorado mountain address is at 8,375 elevation.

As an aside for other VW TDI 1.9 DSG owners ... what I've described lead VW America to compensate this new car owner $5,000. for this operational defect. The frigid DSG gearbox is a known culprit by VWAG

Obviously many. Just look how many lowered their cars just for the looks.

Cross out the looks and replace with functionality. Vent hose in the proper location and do not need an extra rubber adapter hose, etc.

alex, the look of the car from the outside is more important than that of a battery that sits under the frunk lid and under the carpet. Not to mention its a square piece of plastic.

whether the vent needs another piece of hose really has no impact on how it works.

What Quadcammer said............................

I leave the cover off the bottom of my frunk just so i can gaze lovingly at my battery. The vent hose is a thing of beauty and a joy for ever...............!

Yes, of course it is OEM.

I've bought at least 10 Porsche brand batteries during my course of ownership. Where I stored my car during the off season did not have access to electric outlets so no tender possible.

The Porsche batteries were not amenable to this type of treatment. A few years ago I went with Interstate. Seems to be much more resilient.

Still going strong.

I know, but the East Penn was readily available and is probably made off the same mold, so why not.

If you remember, I later made a battery list of group 91 and group 48 batteries. The original is actually a group 91 which fits better. The Interstate is on the list.

I have a photo of my battery laminated and keep it in my wallet as I find it can take too long to open the trunk, unclip the carpet, pull it back and admire the plastic box of electrickery if Im in a hurry.

Pervy

I love that idea - I'm heading out to my 993 to get the photo now.

How about having a best battery photo contest?
