...hmmm not really feeling it, maybe the the targa bar should be colored the same as the body.

I loved my 911SC Targa and the older 911 Targas, just doesn't look quite right on the modern cars.

I still think this is potentially vaporware. Make the sunroof of the 991 out of glass and you have pretty much what the last few Targas have provided. But as a former 914 driver I admit that experience is not the same as taking the roof off.

Do not like. The silver targa bar is extremely dated vis-a-vis the 991 bodystyle. Others will disagree, I just don't think it presents well.

I had a 1971 Targa, and seldom put the top down because of the hassle. Drove top down lots more in my Boxsters when all I had to do was push a button. From the looks of the images, it doesn't look like an automatic top will be fitted.

With my 80 SC targa, I was so paranoid to fold the top, as it is very expensive to get fixed, it was always a plan ahead deal, either leave it at home hanging in the garage or leave it on. On rare occasions I would take it off, fold it and put it in the back.

Don't get me wrong, I loved my targa, but it's time has passed. Technology needs to provide an automatic opening/storage mechanism.

While the latest big window type targa is not my preference, it does offer an option to those that want a hard top, and pretty open air driving. everyone I know that has a targa loves it.

Porsche needs to engineer a lightweight (carbon fiber?) type folding mechanism that provides both a hard top and open air experience for those that want it. From what I understand, the BMW folding hardtop is VERY heavy.

with such a good cabrio, I cant see why they would bother building a targa. The pictures look bad from what I seen thus far….
They will really need to step up the design for a 991 targa.
The 993 targa was a nice view from inside and the 997 targa was also a nice design.

perhaps just build a 991 spyder?

This looks like a poor photo-shop. The proportion of the old to the new is all wrong

From the German magazine Auto Motor and Sport, they state the roof part will slide in front of the rear window. Like in the 997 Targa. The 991 Targa will loose the two rear seats because of this. Also there will be a two wheel drive version sold.

yes - "Fully automatic" - meaning one finger operation, from inside the cabin as mentioned in this article

OK, I'll chirp in with a minority view then.

I had a '69 Targa and still love the looks of the pre-993 Targas. That newer design just never worked for me.

I think given the lines and other constraints they had (e.g. the huge *** end on these bigger cars) they did an admirable job. Can't wait to see it in the flesh.

I'm with most here that have expressed their personal opinion..."not feeling it", yet, anyway.
