Default Help- car won't start

I have been scouring the forums all last night and today to see if I could find a solution to my current predicament.

My battery died (age unknown) 2 weeks ago and I am getting around to trying to get the car going again. I tried jumping the car back when I first found out the car would not start, but no luck. In addition to that every time I would connect the jumper cables from my other car( yes, it was running) the Porsche's horns would start going off. I bought a new battery this afternoon and just went to install it, but again as soon as I hooked it up the horns started going off.

The car is an early 1995 and does not have the immobilizer. I had a spare DME on hand and replaced that today. I am getting a spare spark plug tomorrow and am going to make sure spark is getting all the way out to the plugs. Has anyone had an issue when replacing a dead battery though with the horns going off?

I think someone had a similar issue a few days ago, and he said that after it cycled through the alarm mode, it eventually reset itself. Try letting the alarm blare for awhile and see if that will take care of it.

(that's regarding the alarm issue only, not the spark issue, of course)

Did you try locking and unlocking the car with the battery connected? I seem to recall having this happen to me with my '96 993.

That is the proper thing to do for a '95. Just did that a week ago myself.

Did OP solve the issue? If not, PM me, I'll send my phone number, maybe I could help.

I know this wont help OP as I have an immobilizer, but the first time I drove the car besides test drives, I went to fill the tank with fuel. I opened the door, filled up for ~3 minutes, jumped back in and car wouldnt turn over. Took me so long to figure out to lock/unlock the door to disable immo. So I'd definitely give Nile13's advice a try, even if it has no immo. Good luck OP

the only fob I have to lock and unlock the doors is the one I installed from Tore here on the forums. When the battery is connected that fob does not work in locking and unlocking the doors, but the corner lights flash with the corresponding 1 flash for a lock and 2 for an unlock.

Did you ever get the extra spark plug you spoke about in OP and try that?

Heres another one that might not apply, but my dads 964 got a jump one day from a stranger and the guy put the jumper cables on backwards, frying the ECU. Not saying you did this, but could it have popped a fuse or something from the jump?

When you use the key, does it open/close both doors like it usually does?

No, it only does the one you are physically locking/unlocking

Good question! If this was disabled when the aftermarket remote key fob control was installed it would no longer disable the alarm control unit.

Just out of curiosity, check your central locking fuse. ( ~Fuse 12 I believe)

Try to lock and unlock the driver door three times to reset the alarm

also if you can find someone with a bosch hammer tool you would then be able to reset the alarm system an scan it for faults provided you have a good strong battery.
