Angry p-car owner gave a bad impression...

So I was cruisin' last night on my SUV (coming back from Laguna beach) on 241 and all of a sudden a dark blue 993 zooming through with SL500 (new model) on his tail, they must've been doing over 100+ since I was cruisin' about 75mph and this was around 10.00pm. So I thougt... well, there were only 4 cars on the freeway at the time so I didn't think anything more... I wanted to catch up with them but then I realized I was driving the wrong car.

20 minutes later while I was heading south on I-15, the same 993 zoomed-by going about over 100+ mph, but this time an old Ford Escort was trying to tail him eventhough the Ford Escort was about 5 cars length behind. However, there were more cars on the freeway at the time so this idiot decided to cut left & right through all lanes which made other cars to brake all of sudden. And of course, the Ford Escort tried to do the same.

Whoever you are and if you're here at the board, you're very close to cause a big accident last night. Take your racing to the track ****! And on top of that, you're such an idiot for racing an old Ford Escort. Don't waste your gas and energy.

Sorry, but I had to vent...

Yes, usually P- car owners are responsible and know they
don't need to prove anything.
This sort of irresponsible reckless racing usually happens
with piker juvenile ricers with coffee can exhausts and "Racing"
window stickers. Don't be suckered into these illegal and
dangerous street races. I recently had a guy in a Corvette try
to engage me in a street race and I ignored his gestures.
He revved and dropped in his clutch and I heard a very loud CRUNCH.
He limped over to the road side grinding his tranny. I didn't offer
any assistance as he looked really pissed. Around the turn, there was
a state patrol. I just wish the guy didn't blow his tranny as I would
have enjoyed seeing him get a ticket. Although, I have to admit,
I do feel bad about his misfortune.

I had the opportunity to engage a Lotus Esprit of some type on Highway #169 in Shakopee, MN. at about 1:00 am on Friday night. I was returning from a movie when I came up behind him and took off on him from 2nd through 4th. he could not catch my p-car. At over 100 mph. in 4th I slowed down and moved over to the right lane. He caught up and passed in the left lane, I decided to go at him again and I pulled in behind him to go when we came around a bend and both lanes ahead had cars in them. I slowed down behind the car in front of me, he proceed to move to the right lane and pass the car in the right lane on the right shoulder. Of all places he chose to do this, he did it as we were going over a bridge.

I cannot say that what I did was wise, but I can say that I can draw a line as to how silly I am willing to get. The problem we all face is we don't know what the other person considers a safe limit if any.

This was a good reminder to leave most of these antics on the track where they belong.

All the best

Apart from the possibility of a ticket or accident, another consequence to keep in mind:
A short time ago, here in St. Louis, 2 kids in 'tangs were street racing when one lost control, left the road, hit a tree & was killed. The other driver was arrested, indicted & is awaiting trial for several criminal charges, including involuntary manslaughter. Food for thought next time you (as I'm sure most of us do on occasion) lead some hapless wanna be into our favorite decreasing radius turn at 20mph over his limit.

Not real bright engaging anyone at that time of day. What do you think are the odds that the person behind the wheel had been drinking? My guess is at least 50/50. I wouldn't take those odds. It doesn't matter where you draw the line if the idiot you are racing had hit the bridge or another car and came back into your lane, you would have been toast.

Whew. For a minute there I thought the blue 993 was mine. But I live on the east coast. Once in a while I do feel the need to give a good spanking to the kids who wanna race me. It gets old after a while and it's not worth getting a ticket over. I'll only do it when the roads are empty and never late at night. Around here cops are looking for an excuse to pull someone over late at night.

Greg,
you are 100% correct. As a better man than me once said "if you need an excuse any one will do"

So here goes....
I had just picked up my car earlier that day and had the G64/21 transmission installed and I was still stroking myself for how awesome the car felt.

Someone upstairs was looking after me as usual.

Unhappy Speed Kills

Read about this idiot who killed himself racing his 2003 Porsche up the 55 freeway yesterday. Fortunately, he did not take anyone with him.
