Anyone else having trouble finding spark plugs?
. With a car's stereo, you may get noise in your radio, likely more when listening to the AM band.FWIW, I've done two plug replacements on my car since buying it used in 2001, and with my latest replacement, I noticed that it seemed like a total waste of money, and especially a day's of effort (you all know what this entails!). I had over 60k miles on the plugs (of course I keep records
) so like a good p-car freak I figured it was time, right? But after replacing, I looked at each one closely and man, they looked superb! Center electrode edge still squared, gap looked good, and most of all no carbon crud but just a light, even "dusting" lining the inside of the plug. They looked like they had 10k miles not north of 60k, and I know plug reading from the old days with both bikes and cars with carbs, having experience with tuning and modding carbs. All to say, consider what one's mileage is before doing it (or paying for it to get done). If one's 993 is and has been running well, this "proactive" maintenance may certainly be extended beyond the 60k recommendation IME. For reference, my 95 now has ~175k and it is absolutely uncanny how strong it revs, tight it drives, and consumes the same amount of oil that it did back from nearly 20 years ago when I got it. ...and also a sidebar shoutout to 3L CIS engines that, likewise, wholly deserve their "bulletproof" reputation. No stinkin wonder these aircooled beasts have the devoted following that they do!!!
