76,555 Mile Service Routine (clutch & various "while in there") for Sapphire
I've had my thread up about the engine drop party tomorrow, but I thought I'd start a new thread on the actual project. My clutch is at the end of its life, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to drop the drive train on my mid-mile car, and have a good look at everything. Thinks like new SAI valve, probably the port cleaning too, PS belt, new plugs, breather gasket, sensor O-rings, engine sound pad, lifters, dizzy belt, and a few other odds and ends are on my list.
I figure there are enough similar mileage cars around, that folks may be interested in seeing what is worn, what isn't, etc.
Between cooking chores yesterday, I got Sapphire up on the lift. Today, I unhooked all of the stuff up top with Craig's (cgfen) help, and as soon as he left, Dave (f18drvr) came by and helped me with some of the stuff underneath. Two great "sous mechanics" for me!
No surprises so far, and all came off pretty nicely, except the two vacuum lines on the left of the motor-those took some time to not hurt the hoses. When we pulled the mufflers, Dave and I were looking at the lack of clearance behind the cat (I'm not taking the rear bumper off) and decided the cat has to be removed. I was able to break all 6 bolts with no problem (Calif car!!), so this should allow me what I need to clear the bumper.
Last Friday, my wife and I adopted a "new" yellow lab, Toby, who has taken quite well to the garage, and looks to be tired from the work today-he was there the whole time!
Tomorrow, CV joints, oil line, heater ducting and the forward cross beam-and she's ready to come down. Then, beer and pizza time!

Three Wheelin'
I had to remove mine as well. It just made it easier. Mine has been apart since mid September, I hope I remember where everything went. I tagged almost everything.

No offense to Sapphire, but Toby is way better looking.
