New Split Rear Grill painted and installed. After watching the body shop struggle with removing the old grill and factory sealant; I'm glad I did not attempt this. Ended up using windshield sealant when re-installing new grill, as sealant is not included in Gert's kit.
Also had the shop paint and install the a new red "S" while there. Much cheaper than buying a 'pre-painted' S.
All turned out great!

I did the red S a few years ago, but opted to stay with the original C4S grill and just paint it instead

Thanks guys! And your car looks great too goofballdeluxe!
The sealant is probably just a backup to the 'barbed-lockwasher-type-thing-ees' that hold down the pieces on the tabs from the inside. It isn't going anywhere with that sealant - and I would use it sparingly!

1997 C4S w/ split grill
I purchased the entire lid and split grill from another member a few years ago. It came in an beautiful exotic blue color. I took it to a local painter disassembled the whole unit and put it back together after the paint job. As I recall it was not especially difficult to make the change but it did cause me to focus on what I was doing. I still have the original lid and grill for the C4S and plan to interchange them as the occasion rises. A nice touch for any 993.
