What a concept lol.

The decision was since it wasn't "original owner" dirt, might as well wash.
Ya, that was a good one. When they decide to wash it Wayne writes "wash me in the dust" on a $1M barn find Cobra.

Thanks for the figures. Good to know.

This was the ex Andrew Miedecke race car. A number of these were brought into Australia and raced on the track and rally before being brought back to full road use. The most successful and famous of these was the car owned by Jim Richards in which he won the targa Tasmania. These were all genuine factory CS cars from what we know.

Here they are circa 1995 at Malala race track before all being converted back to road use.

And here is a model of the Andrew Miedecke/Mark Norske car being sold as it was raced in 1995 at Eastern Creek with rack livery before being returned to plain black.

And some video footage previewing the race where these beasts ran the 12 hour enduro.

These were all brought in by Porsche Australia and sold to race teams from what I remember and they came with roll cages as far as I was aware. Whether they were them changed out to different cages to comply with race regulations in Oz is something I am not sure.

The Aus... CS were converted M002 with a bolt in cage.

The cage in this car is definitely after market and not a matter cage. For a start it has the cup X side bar and importantly notice the bar doesn't go through the dashboard air vent hole as it does on a genuine Porsche Matter cage.

9M, interesting what you say about the cages in the UK M003 cars.

I know quite a few of the cars and have met the owners over the years. I have a few photos that show the Uk AFN commisioned rhd M003 cars actually have the same Lhd cage as my own unmodified factory built M003. The give away is the top roof diagonal bar.
Although I have a few photos of rhd m003, I am not one to post photos of other peoples cars.

Have a look next time you get one in, it would be interesting to compare notes!

Here are the photos of the integral cage in my LHD M003 Clubsport for comparison, the RHD UK M003 version is identical save for the location of the rear diagonals:

Very interesting and much thanks for e feedback.

Was always lead to believe these were factory cars. Funny enough the most famous of these cars (the Jim Richards car) couldn't even reach aud225k at auction, and was subsequently offered for sale through private sale at only Aud195k and still didn't move. I only recently started tracking these cars as am interested in picking up a unique 993 in Oz and was considering tracking this car in particular.

Given these are not genuine RS CS cars, I would rather one that hasn't been beaten on the track and a low miles M002.

Thanks very much for the visual clarification Colin. I am going to search out an M002 with low miles instead.

You can't really call it RSCS if they have taken out the goody from the car - even if it was sold as such in Australia. W/o the welded cage as per Colin's car it will always be M002 with bolt in cage, carpets removed etc - I personally will have no interest in what is not RoW car and pay a premium for it.

Colin, what is the black round pipe that is protruding from just above the gearbox?

That and the one on the left A-post are the re-piped side heater outlets to supply cold air to the hard working driver. The air pipe is the traditional 911SC engine heater duct, the rubber half-round outlets (believe it or not) are the dash duct seals from a 928. I wish I could claim credit for these additions but they were actually fitted by the original German OPC owners and I left them in after finding the cooling air particularly useful.

My dog looks at something and immediately thinks "Can I eat this?"
I look at something like the above and immediately think "Can I drive this?" go figure?
