Default 993 purchase price

I'm looking at a 1996 993 C2 coupe, 6 speed with just under 30k miles. Clean and completely original car, records, no accidents etc. What would you expect to pay for a car like this? I looked at Excellence-Mag prices but they are significantly lower that market prices. Can I expect that a 993 has finished all of its depreciation?

What you pay will be based on overall condition, maintenance records, options the car might have, color, mileage, etc. The 993 market right now are very strong, especially for the WBs. I can't tell you exactly what the car is worth - probably mid/high 30s - but I think it's safe to say that 993s are no longer depreciating. You'll have to take into account future maintenance, mileage driven, how well you keep the car's condition up, etc. to find out whether it simply retains it's value with you or appreciates at all. In 10 years, a 30k mile 993 will definitely be worth more than today. Depends what your plans for the car are.

This a tough call. Because mileage is low, there is usually a premium attached to that (whether justified or not is different question). But as you drive and put on miles, the premium will be reduced. However, overall price increase for these cars may offset that. You will still have the same maintenance simply due to age or even more.

In the end it will depend on the price you pay and kind of deal you can negotiate. I would say it's a high 30's to low 40's car with this kind of mileage maybe even higher.

Sounds pretty nice; it all depends how much you want it regardless of what you read or hear.

Also depends on how knowledgeblemuch seller want to sell it. There are guys out there who prefer one smooth quick sale even if they get 90% of the potential value.

$38-45k depending on options and PPI report would be my guess.

I would agree at the high end $45k for a PERFECT car, with decent options. That is a low mileage car. Less than 2,000 miles a year.

I would venture to say that appreciation is the name of the game for the perfect and survivor 993's. I've owned mine for twelve years and it is worth a bit more than what I paid for it in January 2002. I've seen the "last air cooled iteration" cult following ramp up over the years and it is kind of funny to watch.

You definitely have to deduct some money from the asking price if the 30K maintenance service hasn't been performed

Gotta find one first; Car with under 30k miles are far and few between. Of course low mileage alone doesn't define condition, but a car that has mileage that low and is in near perfect condition, you're pushing $50k for a nice colored, manual NB.

The car is Arena Red. How desirable would that be?

Good color. No issues there. A lot of advertisements used that color.

I wouldn't attach a plus or a negative to arena red. I really like it with black or cashmere interior but I don't believe it would bring a premium. If it has a grey interior it might be a harder sell.
