Default Stone guard replacement HELP!!!

Hey guys...

I'm having my stone guards replaced at the body shop, and the shop has installed the guards with ones in the photos below. I don't think they look good. They are matte and you can easily see them from a distance, as of course my paint is glossy. The last pic is my car with the old stone guards, which you can barely see, if at all.

My old stone guards, though old, were not easy to see from just a few feet away. They appeared to be clear and glossy. The body shop says that Porsche doesn't make those anymore. I think they may be mistaken. My car is a C4S.

Has anyone replaced their stone guards recently who can shed some light on this for me please? I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I just bought new stone guards from FD Motor Sports. They are 14 mil instead if the factory 8 mil. They are gossy and clear and made of 3M clear bra material. I hated my old factory flat silver stone guards.

I've heard rumors that there are clear guards and silver frosted guards that are used on silver cars?
sorry, no definitive info.
can you tell if they are frosted or just matte finish?

Those don't look right. Go for clear ones from FD!

Those don't look right Goof. Call FD Motorsports, they have quality clear glossy replacements. I just did them on my car, they turned out great.

Those look to be the silver stone guards. Get the clear versions.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm gonna have them pull this matte one off and start over with the correct ones.

Thanks for the quick replies

+1 for FDM Stone Guards. I just put them on my Arctic Silver C4s and was amazed at the improvement from the old tired guards. You can barely see them.

How the hell do you squeegee it into position with the protective barrier on? Regardless, that looks fantastic goof!!

WHen I replaced mine (w/ FD's), one side had previously had a silver version installed, one side had a yellowed clear one.

Both were hands down improved with new clear guards. 3 years in, and I am due soon for another replacement due to track rash. Still look decent though.

Cheers

Matt
