The tub is now on a rotisserie having the last of the fabrication done (front wheels are still on for mock up purposes). Trunk, drivers floor and pedal box, additional chassis bracing and preparing under the car for the flat floor are almost complete.
Front fenders are finished and ready for the louvers.
Steering rack arrived today. It was made by Fabcar and designed to allow adjustment up/down. This will now be fabricated into the knee bar area.

Front fenders and louvers are now fully prepped and ready for paint.
Work continues on the trunk ducting and hood...

Interesting seat mounts in the floor pan. Is that something that KMR originally fabbed up? Looks like it gets you lower and closer to the central tunnel.

Matt, the seat/slider mount fabrication was done by Kelly Moss after I bought the car. I wanted something ergonomically better and safer. Yes, the mounts are quite a lot lower than standard. For me as a driver the ergonomics are now much better with the location of the seat, adjustable AP pedals, height adjustable steering rack and shifter. I wanted to improve in car safety while we were doing all the other work so now I'm looking at the new Recaro P1300 GT seat and slider. With an easy mod to the seat/slider mount in the car this can be installed. Everything I have read and heard about this new seat and slider says this set up is a huge safety improvement and very comfortable.
lopro a big area of focus for us has been aero improvement (increased downforce and reduced drag). The front bumper/trunk/hood ducting, front fender louvers, flat floor (more to come on that later), tail base, wing and rear bumper are all being addressed. There is only so much that can be gained with more power. As Juha pointed out the 993 starts to hit a wall at a certain point. So the improved aero will help a lot.

hello, I love this project and the effort you put in the development of your car.
This winter our 993 gt2 is also going through many updates to reach a goal of more downforce and less drag.
We thought about a rear diffuser ? Are you planning to do this ?
And how do your front fender louvres and gt3 cup rear bumper help to reach less drag ?

PMNA can get the seat and slider so I pulled the trigger on this today. Somewhat surprisingly the PMNA price is well below what Recaro are quoting.
Kai, I have been using the 996 Recaro seat and slider without a back brace. It was never raised as an issue at tech… This new seat and slider is a big safety improvement and passes all the latest and highest FIA standards. But given the comments in the Club Racing forum re: the 2014 rule changes I'll email Walt just to be safe.
porsche993gtrsr my comments should have been more expansive in the earlier post Louvers are to address "turbulence" in the front fenders and vents prevent the rear bumper acting as a "parachute" but also help with airflow/cooling. For now we are not going to use a rear diffuser but its on the list. The concern was engine cooling. Once we have been able to test with the new ducting and oil cooler if temps are OK we'll add a diffuser and see what happens.

you said your spring rates probably would be 1200 lbs/in, I converted it to NM and that is around 140nm, the real gt2's were running approximately 280nm, unless my calculation is wrong, arent your spring rates a little bit low ? (now we are running 140nm and thinking about going up, but you are sticking to 140nm ?)

As I understand it the factory RSR's back in the day were running about 1700lbs which is what someone I know has in his. He describes it as too stiff and will be changing to softer springs. This factory RSR owner drove my car at a recent Road America test day and found the set up to be much better than his car. After my car is finished and testing begins we'll start where we left off with F=1,100 R=1,200 and experiment up to about 1,400lbs but no more.
