Default 996 GT3 wheels on a 993 NB?

For the wheel pros among us, what do you think about fitting 2004 GT3 wheels on a NB 993? I know it's been done, just not sure how realistic:

11" 63 offset
8.5" 40 offset

- problems in front or rear?
- inboard or outside?
- impact of camber and tire size?
- rolled fenders?

Thanks in advance (Bill V) and others!

Cheers

Matt

I have the exact same spec on the front, so no problem there NB or WB. Not sure on the rear though.

I'd say neither will fit well on a lowered car
8.5ET54 & 10ET65 w/ 235/40 & 275/35 x18

8.5ET40 w/ the same tire sticks out 14mm more

11ET63 sticks out 14.7mm more and in 10.7mm more, both are likely to be a problem

I think Simpateko had those wheels on his NB. Search the archives, he has since sold that car. I looked into them myself a few years ago.

Thanks for the replies - and Bill for the measurements.

I too have the OZ Allegeritas 8.5 and 10 X 18, so can easily visualize the incremental widths and clearance issues. I too expect "too tight".

Cheers

Couple cliff notes: fenders were rolled and no offsets were given for the wheels fitted in this EXACT circumstance. I'm wondering if they were replica wheels (I have NOTHING to base this on other thana hunch). I wonder because he said they came from a turbo in which case there's no bloody way they'd fit a NB car.

Bill is THE expert on wheel 993 fitment IMHO.

Matt,

Front wheels will just fit if you run significant negative camber (i.e. too much for the street) but your scrub radius will be incorrect (too positive).

Having run 10" rears with a 60 offset and fat rubber... I guess it's possible that 11" with 63 offset would just fit, but I suspected you would have to very generously roll the fenders, run more negative camber than useful for the street, and your ride height (lowering) would be restricted due to clearance issues.

Long way of saying I wouldn't do it

Good choice on the E88s you can't go wrong with those! The GT3 wheels are just too modern looking IMO.

Those E88s suck. You better give 'em to me.

compared to your E88s w/ the same tires the GT3s will sit
17mm more outboard in front and give 17mm more inboard room

12.7mm more outboard and 12.7mm more inboard in back

actually they will sit a tad more because the GT2 lips are a bit wider than the BBS

put spacers of those widths on the E88s and see how they fit then

Nice E88's. Did you ever test fit the GT3 wheels?

Personally I'd say they'll fit with some aggressive camber and narrow rear tires... a 275/30-18... maybe a 35 series. 225/40-18 up front with at least 2 degrees negative camber should be ok too depending on how low you are. I'm running 18x8.5 ET41 w/ 225/40-18 and 18x11 ET60 w/ 285/35-18 (both F & R Pirelli Pzero Rosso) and I do not rub... but I'm not as low as like Bill V. or some others. The extra 3mm offset in rear would def help with any possibility of rubbing the outer fender lip but it totally depends on the tire size. The inside would be tight but I think would clear... worst case, 3mm spacers and youre sitting where mine are

Rear inner clearance with suspension at droop...
