Default 993 Targa Speedline wheels on 993 NB?

I have a 993 NB with Cup 2 stock wheels. I like the simple, classic look but of Cup2 but I just came across an opportunity to buy a used set of 993 Targa wheels (4 of them) for about $1K. What do you think of them on a NB 993? Does anyone have a photo with this combination? Your opinion is greatly appreciated!

I like the look of the Targa wheels on my NB. In fact, I got a great deal on the wheels and bought them before I found my coupe. My mechanic still laughs about that today.

Be aware the Targa wheels are heavier than cup II's.

$1K is a great price!

Regards,

.

Thank you Cemoto, those targa wheels on your coupe looks great! This gives me a good idea of how they would look on my car.

Do I need spacers or can they be put on NB without them?

Targas are narrowbodies, so no spacers required.

They are classy wheels. That is how I roll. But, hey, I have the rest of the Targa to go with them too...

Just a word of caution. They are two-piece wheels, and a bear to keep clean. Brake dust oozes from every bolt. (I think they are worth the effort).

Only you can make the call of choosing appearance over performance..It doesnt need to be a race car to enjoy/realize the benefits of significantly lighter wheels. Losing a pound or two on each corner is not that significant; 3 - 5 lbs or more, IS.

That being said, on the PERFORMANCE side there are numerous benefits to less unsprung weight, lower moments of inertia, and less rotating mass; along with suspension benefits as well.

APPEARANCE = What pleases your eye.

Thank you for all the useful info and opinions, this is just the best forum especially for a newbie like me!

So the Targa wheels will fit on my car without spacers, but they are heavier and takes effort to keep clean. Very useful information.

The set I'm looking at are being sold for about $1K USD but it looks like they have scratches and I'll most likely need to have them repaired/resprayed/recoatead. I called a wheel repair shop nearby and they quoted me $150 per wheel to do that to do that jusy on surface meaning without taking the two piece apart. So I'm looking at about $1600 for this investment assuming current 17 inch tires on my car can be mounted on them.

I'm going to do more thinking and research today to make my decision...

Ive got a set of Targa wheels on my 98 Cab. I like them a lot.

Regarding restoration / repair - Did I read that the screws and nuts for Targa wheels are no longer available from Speedline?

Can anyone confirm or refute this?

Many thanks
