I need some recommendations on products and also procedures I can use to dye a few leather pieces. I have black leather seats with a cream leather insert in MB SLK 320 that I want to dye to all black and also the shift boot and ****. I've never used any dye products and I've seen here where a few folks have done this.
Thanks in advance,
Randy
colorplus.com is great. the surflex dye works really well and their customer service is great. they will custom blend dye colors and they stock standard automotive company colors for many german cars.
For leather care, Leatherique is hard to beat, I use the rejuvenating oil regularly on my interior. I have never used their color products however, so I can't vouch for those.
GL, take pics of what you wind up doing and let us know how it turns out.
+1. Redid my Classic Grey interior a couple of years ago - airbag cover, front seats, handbrake, shift boot and part of the center tunnel. It was a perfect match. I'm not sure how well black will cover a lighter color. Call JoAnne at Color-Plus and ask her.
Good prep is important. The Color-Plus soft bristle brush lost a few bristles during dye application. Either work with lots of light, in order to see and remove stray bristles before the dye gets dry, or consider applying with a sprayer.
+1 for Leatherique. George Pavlisko, the owner, is an enthusiast and extremely knowledgeable. I've had nothing but great results with all their products.
