Default b-lated intro

Dear 993 enthusiasts,

This is an amazing forum! The vast array of interesting topics and in depth technical expertise accompanied with colourful personalities just makes it a deadly combination

I just got my car back from its first ever detailing last week and I took a couple of pictures while it was still very shinny. So I thought this might be a timely opportunity for me to give everyone a b-lated introduction and show you its good/clean/back side.

This is a 1997 993 targa, 4-speed, in zenith blue. The car is mainly stock with minor electronic upgrades. Mechanically it runs great. I’ve had the car since June of last year and been enjoying it tremendously both last summer and this summer. Even before I was able to take possession of the car, this forum has been very helpful in my research in finding a fellow Rennlister, turbodan, to have my car apprised for insurance.

I hoped the pictures get attached properly. I'm still trying to figure out where to adjust my signature file... I think the admin had mine turned off.

All the best and hope everyone have a blast riding in your cars this summer.

Cheers,
Andrew

It's always refreshing to see something like a zenith blue targa as opposed to a black/silver coupe. Glad you're enjoying 993 ownership! Out of curiosity, how do you like the tip? I've never driven a tip from the 993 era.

After I got the car, I had to 1) get used to driving an air cooled vehicle being very tight and compact and 2) learn how the car having only 4 gears behaves in different driving conditions. Like many tip owners, I also like my tip when stuck in city traffic. However I would still like a stick with 3 peddles in the back roads. Putting the car in sports mode with manual gear shift does make the drive more lively. I am still trying to perfect holding onto 2nd gear before upshifting to 3rd in the city.

^Lots of us use Bilstein shocks, not Bilstein springs

In my previous 993, I ran Bilstein HD/M030 springs. This C4S runs Bilstein HD/H&R springs

The Tip can be very capable, once you get to know that there are hundreds of transmission maps that range from easy going to very aggressive depending on how you drive the car. Manual is always a good option for Tips. I'd like to get a 993 Tip Cab for my wife.

Thanks all for the welcome.

ECS Tuning: you are right, I will have to look into springs and shocks soon.

curve lover: here's a couple shots of my grey interior. Cheers.

Andrew-- So nice! Man, you scored ^^

On the center vents, might that be a GPS mount or similar

Great use of the Targa roof for some good photo angles, too

Thanks Jäger. This is Kenu's Airframe car vent mount for my iPhone. It's very secure and would work well with other thin profile GPS. I picked it up from Apple recently.
